1977 MGB GT Project car - Fast road.
Up for sale is my MGB project car. Bills need paying so toys have to go. I bought this car 6 months ago to use everyday, which it did very well at up until the head gasket went a few weeks ago. I bought the kit to do it, stripped the head but then started getting other plans for the car and it sort of snowballed a bit!
The car originally had rubber bumpers but as you can see it's had these removed and Sebring valances put in. It looks good, and with some other detail parts like the Aston fuel cap and early MGB rear lights it really has a racer look to it. The previous owner spent a lot on the bodywork replacing wings, sills, floor sections, jacking points etc etc and a re-spray. It really is a solid MG. There's no patch repairs, no welding needed and the car polishes up really well. It'll not win any concours but looks very respectable.
Some of the work done before I got the car -
Drilled and grooved discs
New calipers
Braided hoses
EBC pads
Lower up-rated front springs
Thicker "works" Anti-roll bar
Front and rear shock absorber conversion
Uprated Ashley exhaust system
Rear lowering blocks
New Servo
I've got a huge folder of receipts for parts and work done to the car, and I've added to this as well. The idea was to carry on the theme, and next year fit the V8 that this car needs. Unfortunately bills now mean it's got to go. The car is also fitted with a set of deep dish TR6 steel wheels which are rare in themselves, the rear arches have been modified for these to fit.
So what's now needed?
Seats/seatbelts need sourcing and fitting
Head gasket fitting
A good tidy out and clean up
Front number plate fitting
That's the short list to get you back on the road and driving. Things like painting the bonnet and finishing the rear arches could come later as you wanted. It's an ideal project and deserves finishing, I just wish I could!
Available with the car are 2x vintage style bucket seats with runners and harnesses, a Safety devices rear roll cage and rear ducktail spoiler, all brand new and never fitted. These would really sort the car out and finish the interior off nicely! The car as is I'd sell for £1750, or with all the new bits £2250.
