Good evening all, the time has come for me to sell my pride & joy. Details below:
1991 J plate Rover 220 GTI - bright red, half leather recaro interior.
3 door hatch, 64k miles and one previous owner.
I've had it 2.5 years, and currently its sat in my parents garage valetted and unsused, so I'd like to see it go to a new home. Had plenty of work done, wants for nothing mechanical wise.
NEVER BEEN WELDED,100% RUST FREE.
Bodywork is "good but not perfect" as are the wheels. No rot,just age marks.
Looking for £3,000 ono but will listen to offers.
Will add pictures when I know how (android)

I'm tempted but 3k is a lot for one of these... That's my dream figure, I am a realist and will listen to offers. That said, I couldn't find another to price against, let alone a 1 ownercar that's rot free. If you're serious, happy to tall by phone/email. |

It's not a lot for one of these,those comments always make me laugh, it looks near mint and worth every penny,if you want a good r8 what's the point of spending a grand on something that will invariably need money spending on it when this car for sensible money seems worth a punt and won't need anything but pampering?, these cars are so underrated,that's a lovely car fella gltws

Thanks, the paintwork is "honest" but only age related scuffs or scratches. Its never been welded, and rot free 100%.
Guy before me bought it new, aged 70+ and sold it aged 90+ when retired from driving.
Its final 2-3 years with him it did 150 miles a year. To get it home I drove it 150+ miles.
Done about 4500 miles a year in it, 2000 of that was honeymoon to the top of Scotland, in 10 days. On the way up I even got 43mpg when fully laden.
I can't fond another GTI for sale, only 214/216 in OAP spec, and with no history.
Even vvc coupes are £1500 starting for a tidy targas with 100,000 on the clock.
I really don't want to sell, but I have something of a fleet, and funds are always welcome. So it seems sad that it sits in my parents garage keeping the white Mercedes company, doing nothing.

There are 2 other red ones for sale, both are 2500 ono and 1 is a 1 owner car too,i guess its a case of viewing them and seeing which is the best all round.
