Body coloured bumpers with black insert, body coloured wheel arch extensions, 88 spec tailgate spoiler, halogen headlamps, front driving lamps, cooling vents in bonnet, central door locking, heated rear window, dual-tone horn, tailgate wash/wipe, tinted glass, quartz digital clock, aerial incorporated in rear windscreen, Recaro front reclining seats, 60/40 split rear back rest, soft feel sports steering wheel, tilt/slide glass sunroof, tachometer, electrically operated front windows, Ford ECU2 Self-Seek Stereo with power amplifier, speaker control. Factory options; Quickclear heated from screen, colour coded door mirrors, fuel computer. Dealer options; Ford RS mud flaps.
EXTERIOR
This superb early Series 2 example is finished in beautiful Ford Diamond White (code B3). The paintwork displays a bright pure shine and uniform finish owing to the enthusiast ownership and meticulous detailing. All panels are pin straight with uniform gaps and all trim sections and RS decals are superb. A tiny bumper scuff has been lightly touched in to the front nearside corner, obscured from direct line of sight. Sure to delight any classic car enthusiast, with items such as the supplying Ford Main Dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and unused tax disc holder in the document wallet. The headlamps and spot lamps are the factory correct Carello fitment.
INTERIOR
Presented in good order, the fully adjustable and supportive Recaro seats show virtually no wear to the Daytona Raven fabric (Code SW). Two tiny markings to the driver’s seat base can be seen upon scrutiny. All switches, knobs and dials operate correctly and the Ford Self-Seek stereo radio/cassette with amplifier and speaker directional control remains fitted. The factory optional fuel computer remains in place and operates on all functions! A SU boost gauge has been neatly installed and displays healthy Turbo pressure upon throttle application. The boot area is spotless with original build stickers intact and a straight uncut parcel shelf. A truly brilliant example of this 1980’s RS Ford.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.6 OHC (CVH) fuel injected engine with a Garrett AiResearch T3 turbo charger and intercooler produces 132bhp at 5750rpm and 180Nm of torque at 2750rpm. In a car weighing just 1325kg, this featherweight contender completes the 0-60 dash in 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 128mph is achieved. A fully detailed engine bay allows bonnet up exhibiting. The 5-speed manual Ford BC box is light and precise with crisp clutch action. Immense fun!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unmistakable RS Turbo light alloy 6X15 RS wheels remain undamaged and Ford stampings are visible. The 195/50 R15 tyres have masses of tread remaining and the spare is still shod in the original Dunlop item. This fast Ford icon stops as well as it goes with the ABS braking system designed in conjunction with Lucus Girling working perfectly.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 8th November 1986, the supplying Ford Main Dealer was Whites of Taunton and the original Ford plastic wallet houses absolutely all handbooks, radio guide and dealership literature from point. The service booklet is stamped up to 42,654 miles and furthermore, the history file contains MOT certificates and masses of invoices to illustrate the careful maintenance this example has enjoyed. The previous keeper, an avid RS Owners Club Member has decided to part with this superb RS Turbo and the vehicle is certain to appeal to a Ford enthusiast.
