So, I'm curse word with wheels and I need your help....the story goes a little bit like this....bought a cube, came fitted with 13" compomotive alloys. The rears stuck out the arches too much and are illegal, I did (do) intend to change these but carried on driving the car anyway. Me cube got side swiped and its had the rear axle bent and front alloy smashed pretty bad. So while I'm searching for a axle I figured id sort the wheels. Instead of trying to find a new front wheel to match, I've decided just to get a new set completely due to the rears sticking out too far (I don't want to camber them in either) so, I'm thinking a set of banded steels. Now, the size of Cube steels are 4x100 , 13", 5-5.5" wide, with either a 40 or 50mm offset (centre bore I'm unsure of yet but think it's 66.1) and while I'm on the subject of unsure, I don't actually understand what the offset actually means either but I imagine it is important, so if that could be explained to me as well please? Now, Cubes are quite rare in the Uk which makes the steels harder to find and a bit more expensive, so finally to my question, is there any other cars that have this wheel set up?
Thanks
P.S I'm fully aware a Cube isnt considered by many as cool (its definitely not retro) but I have a Ford Consul and an Bmw E28 which will hopefully balance that out? Possibly?

i think they match with a Micra, the only difference appears to be Mirca are et45 and Cube are et40...........but i don't know what that means!?!?!?

Ah sounds like you've got George's old cube. FA52 *** So basically wheel wise you're talking k12 micra or anything from the 4 stud Renault range. Which actually means wheels are ten a penny I bought a set of four Megane mk1 steels for £10.99 for winter. 4x100 Cb 60.1 ET 30-42 realistically depending on widths and if you have lowering plans etc. Standard steels are 14" too rather than 13".

That's the start of my plate. The lad I bought it off definitely wasn't called George tho lol well unless it's a nickname. I like the look of it on 13's instead of 14's. Thanks for the info, I'll try and find some 13's and start getting them banned while I'm searching for a rear axle
Thanks

Yeah George was the lad that did the modifying but had to sell it on as he had lost his license following a fit. I'd guessed it had changed hands again as the person you bought it off was asking questions about the suspension setup about a year ago on the cube forum because he wanted to revert to standard setup. I had to move on from the cube forum when I sold my cube on as I didn't have enough time with research needed on the Elgrand! While I'm here I may as well answer the axle query that you PMd about In terms of differences with Clio I know that the drop link connections were different between the cube and the Clio. I know this because George lowered your now cube on Clio coil overs but couldn't connect the drop links to the struts so just ran without them. I'm assuming that the owner in between replaced the suspension back to standard though? But basically I'd avoid Clio parts apart from wheels and brake discs. Micra k12 was exactly the same suspension wise so worth a punt on one. When I removed the air ride on my cube I had to buy the bar that runs across the rear that the lower spring cups are part of (can't remember what they're called now!) but I used one from a Nissan note of same age and that was identical too. There's a website called Nissan epc data which lists part numbers for cubes and micras (well all models) so I tend to compare part numbers although some are same part with different numbers! Hope all this helps. Good luck!

Actually I've just been looking through my eBay history and it was the rear beam I bought (for £95) but this might be what you mean by axle? Is it the rear one you need? If so then a note / Micra of same year one will be exactly the same. Disclaimer : the one I bought was, can't remember if mine came with the drums etc though as the main bit i needed was the bar that the spring cups were part of.

This is equivalent of what I bought and was identical to cube... www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/111765555581 My mechanic swapped it and said it was pretty straightforward just bolt on / off. (That was on a lift though)

Wheel offset is easy. All it does is tell you where the mounting point of the wheel is ,in relation to the centre of the wheel. If your wheel had an offset of zero and you measured from the inner lip to the face it bolts to the disc on, it would be the same measurement from that face to the outer lip. IE its mounting point is exactly in the centre of the wheel. If you have a wheel with an offset of say ET20, the mounting point is 20mm closer to the outer lip. The higher the ET number the more the wheel is offset that more wheel goes in the arch and less protrudes. Most modern cars have offsets with a high ET, hence most wheels looking very flat faced. Deep dish wheels had the mounting face much closer to the middle, so low ET numbers there or even a negative Et
4x100 on a 13" wheel was a very common fitment in the 80s. early Vw golf, early e30 BMW with 4 bolts , Toyota, Nissan and Honda all used it.

Fully understood all that, thanks guys. Yes it came with the coil overs but has standard suspension fitted. That's exactly the part I need. On minis they're called rear subframes but when I was searching for them they were only coming up as axles or beams. Probably be back in a week or two asking questions about the wheels.
Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated

As far as I can tell it's the same, mine was definitely from a note, so presuming all notes had the same bar it should be fine. The only photo I have of mine to compare is this one...

Fitted straight on, just got to sort the wheels now, thanks for your help Good news I'd just go for Renault Clio 13" steels for simplicity. (If you want 13" rather than 14") Honda or vw will need to have centre bore size increased.
