Hey guys.
Up for grabs is my 1985 Fiesta 1100L. MOT till July 2016, and 34k on the clocks.
This was recently restored by its previous owner, and the shell is immaculate. All rust was taken care of properly (not just filled and hidden), the inner wings have been smoothed (which looks great imo) and the car received a full respray, including the engine bay area.
The car is far from standard and is now running an RS2000 (DOHC 16v i4) engine, with a DanST Yamaha R1 Bike carb kit including bespoke inlet manifold and alloy velocity stacks. Megajolt Lite JR ignition system, and a zetec coil pack. This was rolling roaded at DLF classics and made 155bhp, with 160lbs torque. This equates to about 195bhp per tonne, which equates to plenty fun
Although the car only made 155bhp. The chap with the rolling road told me it should be capable of about 170 just by resolving an issue with fuel at the top end. There is a fuel flow issue that is being caused either by the fuel pressure regulator (which is a sytec adjustable), or the fuel pump (which is a facet red top)
Through research I read the best thing to use is the pump that goes with the car, so I have sourced an R1 pump (self regulating) for the next owner to fit. This could free up an extra 15 bhp potentially, so certainly worth a go!
It has a standard RS2000 manifold which has had the EGR holes welded up, then been wrapped, and is mated to a Sportex system.
When i got the car it was running an XR2 box but I have recently swapped for a mk3 fiesta 1300 5 speed. The ratios in this are spot on (similar to the mk2 fiesta 1300 cvh), a new clutch release bearing was fit whilst the box was out.
220mm cvh flywheel (lightened and balanced) and RS Turbo clutch.
To slow you down there are XR2 calipers, and a mondeo servo, braided front hoses, brand new disks, pads, wheel bearings, drums and shoes (at the back). The mondeo servo is a very worthwhile upgrade, i was really pleasantly suprised how good these brakes felt in comparison to my standard XR2.
Inside the car there is a set of recaro seats with fishnet headrests. I don't know what they're from, but they're comfy and do a good job of holding your bum in place when you're throwing the car about There are XR2 front door cards, a standard povvo spec dash, an XR2 steering wheel and some grey carpet. Not much else to be honest.
My intentions were to buy a scrapper, and pinch all the little bits of interior i needed to complete this, as i have been using it as a daily driver. However, that is up to the next buyers discretion. Keep it stripped, fit a cage in it, would make a great track/street toy. Or do as i never did, and piece together the interior so its a little more practical.
The battery has been relocated to the boot.
It has a Cobra alarm system. Its not remote central locking (thankfully), but gives that little extra piece of mind, and helps with insurance prices.
It has a very nice and fairly sought after set is Oz Racing Gravel wheels (13 x 5.5) from a KA rally car. These are genuinely immaculate, and look great. The tyres are Maxxis Victra MA-Z1 175/50/r13. Tyres have done about 600 miles, still look new. And having used these in wet and dry, i can safely say i'll be buying a set of them for my other car. They are very grippy, and much better than my yokohama a539s in the wet!
To get the car sitting AND riding right. There is a set of Gaz Golds. (albeit painted black) these are coilover (height and ride adjustable) on the front, with ride adjustable dampers on the back, and 250lb 7" springs on the rear. It also has an adjustable panhard rod to keep the rear wheels in check.
Only other things i can think of worth mentioning are povery spec front and rear bumpers, painted gloss black, with the quarter bumpers painted to match. I also had the front and rear wiper arms freshly powder coated. So externally everything looks fresh.
I bought this as an unfinished project. Have obviously got it running, had it set up (at considerable cost) and MOTd, and ironed out a few teething problems. However, there are still some bits to do. Unfortunately, prior to my ownership, something has spilled onto the roof and scorched the paint, and there was a knock of the o/s rear quarter.
The previous owner dealt with both of these issues up to the point of prepwork and they are now ready for paint. There is also a tiny little square at the very bottom of the front scuttle (n/s corner) that is sat in primer at the moment (see pictures)
I bought the car knowing this, but had not gotten around to having the panels sprayed yet. There is a tin of matching paint to be supplied with the car, this is literally the same paint that was used originally, not another tin mixed up, so it should colourmatch perfectly. And with the prepwork being done already, it should not be too big a job/cost getting those panels blown over. This has been reflected in the asking price.
The only other issue i have with the car at the moment, is there is a leak from the top radiator hose. I will endeavour to replace this prior to sale so should not be the new buyers problem, but mentioning it now incase it isnt recified before a viewing and someone calls me out on it.
The car is still driveable, it just leaks when the car gets very hot (and obviously pressure increases) so the car can be seen working and i will be happy to take any prospective buyers out for a short passenger ride to show the car has nothing to hide
The reason I am selling it, is that I want to go in a slightly different direction with the engine, and rather than rip this apart, I'm going to fiddle with my other mk2. I have too much money invested in this car to start making uneconomical changes.
I will probably be kicking myself a few months down the line, as can honestly say i'll probably never have a shell this nice again. But at the moment, this seems like the sensible thing to do, so here we are.
The original build thread for the car is here ---> www.xrtwo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=106778&start=125 and is definately worth a read, as shows how much time, money and effort was spent on the car.
The asking price is £2500. I am located in Felixstowe, Suffolk.
Please PM me if interested, or call/txt 07790065997 . I work flexible and sometimes unsociable hours. If i do not answer the phone, please leave a message, i will return the call as soon as possible.
cheers, Jonni
oh, almost forgot the pictures! Please note, these were taken yesterday (17.09.2015) so are completely up to date and accurately show the condition of the car
