PRICE DROP TO £2,750. STILL OPEN TO OFFERS ON THIS, AND PX IS WELCOME, BUT CASH IS KING.
Hey guys!
Just to start off, I know I'm a new member, however I've spoken to rmad who's given me the go ahead to post up my car for sale on here .
Right, now that's out the way, quick intro! I'm a very active member of the MX5Nutz forum (some of you might know me off there, if you do, I'm here now. You can't escape. HA.) and I've owned this car since June 2013 after getting rid of my old green one and wanting something that was ready to drive away and not need any work to get it up and running. This car was exactly that, and has been reliable ever since day one. Since I've owned it, it's gone from a bog standard 1.6 Eunos Roadster, to a sexy engined, fast road daily / touge / track SUPER ROADUSTAER TOUGE BATTLE MONSTER
As much as I'd like to keep it, this car really needs to go, and for good reason. In January I'm moving to Australia, and APPARENTLY you're not allowed to take a car on an Airbus A380. Which is Bullplop because I'm pretty sure there's enough space right? Anyways, I've weighed out many options, from breaking it, and storing the stock shell and engine, storing the whole car for if/when I come back, and even shipping the car over because I am rather attached to it. But alas, it is not meant to be, and the money from the sale will help towards bigger and better things in life.
Like a V8 Ute. Maybe. Sh...
So, sob story over, now here's the car:
I don't think it's actually ever failed an MOT, I have a stack of MOT certificates dating back to when the car first landed (February 2000) and a curse word load of receipts from servicing etc. I am a scatterbrain and I have misplaced a few of my own receipts from when I've owned the car, but I have meticulously looked after this car. I could probably print them out for you if you're that bothered though, mx5parts and all that jazz.
Here's the build thread for my car if you're interested: www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=152146&page=1
The bodywork of the car is in good condition, for it's age but It's really not that bad to be honest. There's stone chips, small parking dent dings from dickheads in parking lots and the odd hairline scratch, but nothing major at all. The body is straight, and there is very very little rust on the car. Arches are clean, and the sills are original and unwelded. There's a very very VERY slight bit of surface rust on the inside of the rear arch, but this is literally surface rust from broken stone chip, which I'll probably end up cleaning up anyways. It's never bothered me, and when you wash it it looks so dayum good son. The sills are perfectly fine, and completely solid. I've had Skuzzle had a look at this and he's said it's one of the cleanest 5's he's seen :thumb-up2:. It's coming up to the 190,000KM's mark, which is approx 118,000miles. Not as bad as I thought! However, the engine has done close to around 82,000km's ish.
The roof vinyl with vinyl rear window. Eh, I know, BUT it's in pretty good condition. No cracks, 100% watertight. Rear window has come away from the seam at the top by about 2 inches, but this hasn't gotten worse in the last 2 years I've owned the car and you can barely notice it. I always unzip the window when putting the roof down so it hasn't gotten worse. And no water comes through.
The interior is clean, and smells lush. Although I can't remember where I put the passenger floor mat... I hoover it fairly often and I try and keep things tidy. Also I use a natural musk brick thing that my mam got from Morocco. You brush it on the upholstery, and oh lord it's the best smell ever. Like a white musk type of scent that's just ungh. curse word smell dat curse word just oh lord have da mercy.
Yes. Anyways. How does it drive you ask? Exceptionally. I'm not sure of the alignment settings but I don't want to touch it because tbh, it's absolutely ideal for me. The grip is incredible with the tyres and suspension setup, and the handling is so progressive. There's no horrible snappy loss of grip, the breakaway is gentle and easy to manage, both on track and on road (NOT THAT I EVER DO SILLY STUFF ON THE ROADS JUST SAYIN').
Knocks, whines and bangs? What's that... I wouldn't know because there aren't any in this car. Bushes, dust boots, steering gaitors, all perish free and in very good condition. Steering gaitors are a year old and I got them replaced when I got my front wheel tracking done. Okay, you can hear SOME noise from the rear diff but that's only because it has SuperPro diff bushes installed so it transfers quite a bit of road / transmission noise through the car, but to be honest, I think it's pretty cool so whatever.
Of course, the car is modified. So, unlike my completely pointless essay above, I'll just bullet point all the mods I can remember off the top of my head.
Handling
Volk Racing GNR 15 x 7 alloys with Yokohama Advan AD08R Tyres (195/50/15)
Koni Sports package suspension with adjustable damping and 40mm Tein loweringsprings
1.8 Anti-Roll bar upgrade
1.8 Brake upgrade with OEM discs and Axxis Ultimate Carbon Ceramic brake pads, brand new items fitted in early July
Power Steering removed because it's gay
A/C removed because wtf
Carbing 6 point Roll-cage with Harness Bar & Door Bars
Rear OEM sub-frame brace
Front Cusco strut brace (I need to re-fit this!)
Exterior / Other upgrades
-R-Package OEM front lip with Track Dog Racing splitter
-Raybrig headlights, US Miata front markers
-Runabout S800 wing mirrors
-Standard Viscous LSD (4.3:1 ratio)
-MK2 MX5 1.8 5 speed gearbox, front seal, and tail seal replaced in April.
-Super Pro Differential Bushes
Interior
-Cobra Racer 7 bucket seat with Sabelt 4 point harness on JB Fab mounts (standard passenger seat/belt)
-Momo Prototipo steering wheel
-PLX Dev AFR gauge (as above)
-Pioneer double din touch screen head unit
-Kenwood door speakers
-Headrest speakers in passenger seat. I have the driver's side in my drawer
-Stickers, loads of cool stickers.
-Omfg JDM flare what m9.
This is the sexiest bit. The Engine.
-Later B6 cylinder head skimmed 40thou, increased compression (210psi across all 4 cylinders)
-Aftermarket cams (possibly Maruha?), uprated valve springs, and solid lifters (works with the standard ECU, the idle is rather lumpy lololol. It really really wants a standalone ECU to wake the cams up though)
-High flow oil pump
-Maruha Motors adjustable vernier pulleys (early type) and cambelt kit. Unknown date of change, but the engine has less than 80,000KM’s and looks pretty new
-XTD Lightweight flywheel (4.0kg), with brand new OEM clutch, flywheel, and clutch release bearing
-Stainless Steel 4-1 exhaust manifold, stainless decat, and custom stainless straight through performance exhaust. Seriously, this exhaust sounds so curse word good. It's the perfect combination of being civilised when you're cruising and a nice volume when you're hoofing it. I need to get a proper video of it, because the sound is just besterest.
-PLX Devices Wideband O2 Sensor and AFR Gauge (currently simulating narrowband output to the standard ECU)
-Silicone water hoses
-Mazdaspeed Competition Engine Mounts
It was taken out of a 70,000KM’s car that was imported by AK Automotive up in Newcastle. The engine pulled 107WHP on Skuzzles dyno. Peak torque is reached earlier than a standard engine and the power is kept there all the way to the red line, so this engine clearly has more to give if you up the RPM limit. Seriously, this engine with bodies and an ME221 ECU installed by Skuzzle will be the best thing ever.
Included in the full sale price will be the following stuff, if you want it.
-Standard exhaust manifold, Standard cat-back exhaust, and stock O2 sensor
-Generic bucket seat side mounts
-Engine / various other oil seals I was going to use for the old engine / gearbox.
-Loads of other curse word as well, I cba to list
I'm pretty sure I've missed a few things, but if I remember anything I'll be sure to update the ad.
This car has pretty much been all over the country and I use it almost every day. I drive it to work, to the lady's, here / there, and not once has it left me on the side of the road. I occasionally go to Wales to see my uni friends, and I've done a 1,000+ mile road trip all the way to the Scottish Highlands through the picturesque mountain passes and all the way back down to Surrey again without me needing to worry about a thing. Drove it to Wales in July, ragged it around a track, drove it back. Not a problem at all, and didn't even use a drop of oil.
I am rather attached to this car. Many memories have been had and I really don't want to let this car go, but needs must and it's sensible time. I'm going to 100% regret it, but I need to look at the bigger picture at the end of the day. And besides, there's a whole world of cars that need to be discovered. I can't keep driving an MX5 for the rest of my life REALLY. So, yeah. That's it I guess.
I'm asking for£3,000 £2,750, but of course I'm open to offers.
I believe this is a fair price for the condition of the car, the upgrades, and you don't need to worry about a cambelt, clutch, brakes, rust, or any major service items for a good while now so it's ready to go to a track and have fun times, but like I said - Offers welcome.
A few things to note: One of the splitter support got broke when a stupid fox decided to commit suicide, I'm going to order another set of Joe's Racing Products splitter supports or either the APR supports. I'm a bit busy, so if I don't get around to it, I'll take the price of the supports off the agreed price.

Happy buying.
