Avoid American pro like the plague. Cheap tat. Look for second hand Mac or teng tools. Halford pro quite good and Clarke pro on par with snap on and Mac.

You do get what you pay for with this sort of stuff, As above, I would be looking for a 2nd hand Mac box or similar. My snap on box may have cost £5K but 10 hard years later its still perfect with all the draws taking huge weight and opening with a finger tip touch.

Hi, be aware a roll cab and or a top box full of tools is 'kin heavy. OK to wheel about but not to load into a van. For that I like the three drawer intermediate boxes of which I have three stacked up instead of a top box. This gives you a space on top to have other bulky stuff that might not fit in a drawer.

Colin As said any toolbox can easily become seriously heavy, a gentle slope can turn a rollcab into a charging monster, be careful of toolboxes in vans as they will become a killer missile in an accident. As for my own collection, a cantilever I've had for almost 40 years, a snap on top chest bought 2nd hand 25 years ago, a facom roll cab new 20 years ago and a teng chest I picked up from cash converters for 20 quid 6 years ago. All still fully operational Costco often have deals on roll cabs which to a quick inspection seem to be good Ttfn Glenn

to be honest its only the top box id ever need to stick in the van if i get a full sized one, which would still be heavy but managable

I have Halfords Pro boxes but took the wheels off because my workshop floor isn't smooth and car panels are expensive if I can't wheel it about there is zero risk of damage.

I can't comment on the current quality of American Pro stuff but this I've had for 20 years It's frequently got too much stuff in it, I run it down a brick weave drive which rattles everything in it and all the drawer runners still run smooth. It was as nice red but it's fading to a not so nice pinky colour and it probably has too many stickers on it

ive got the sealey american pro set, i find its ok as long as youve got no big kit and you don't have to move it about much on rough ground, the casters let it down somewhat

I have snap on at work , Halford pro before and have had Sealey at work .
Snap on , pretty good but ridiculous price [ name tag ]
Sealey utter garbage even with bearings , cheap , draws don't slide well , locks break , stuff jams . The paint it cack as well , very dull and slighty oxidises .
Halfords - excellent . Good thick black paint , good bearings even with heavy drawers , good wheels , excellent price and you can always take the thing back under gaurantee easily [ they are good with stuff like that ]

Always had snap on,left he trade around 5 years ago so sold my boxes. Offered a nice little job so came back and hell hasn"t the prices of tools gone up.
Brought a halfords industrial top box roll cab and draw section I am impressed with it,and was a good deal with the trade card too.

Hi Dan,could I offer a bit of advice, if you have a bad smash in the van with a loose tool box it's going to keep on going until it hits you or goes out the windscreen( don't ask )so bolt every thing down inside and then ratchet strap when on the move and have two sets if you can. I have one of these in the workshop purchased 10 years ago and is going strong. It is on blocks and doesn't get wheeled around as it weighs 250 Kg empty www.biggerbids.com/auction-image-gallery.php?auction_id=196294&image_id=1140461These in the van I purchased 25 years ago( stackon) and have travelled 250 thousand miles and the draws still open reasonably well but stress fractures have appeared and it won't last much longer but still does the job. As with most things if you buy what you can afford and look after them then you will get the best from them. The little draw unit at the side is IKEA and is handy and cheap. Good luck Steve
