I recently sold a speed boat throttle on Ebay, the winner bidder paid quickly via Paypal and a few messages exchanged about postage. She then Emailed me via Ebay stating that the throttle handle was jammed due to rust and the cable was seized, I replied 'that's strange as I tested it two weeks ago and it was fine, if you would like to post it back I will check it and if faulty will fully refund your payment plus postage cost. Next day I received + feedback 'Great item, quick delivery'.
Now to me that screams of a scam where she was trying to get a refund hoping I wouldn't ask for it back, is there anyway I can report this to Ebay or PP in case she has done this to others?

ebay won't be interested anyway. Sadly there are too many people trying this kind of lark on there which is why I rarely do anything via ebay these days.

Cheers Taurus. I thought that would be the case and do realise that that sort of thing goes on. At least on Ebay you don't get as many cockwombles as are on Gumtree.

one ive had is they bid on two items then say they don't want one of the items, you cancel the transaction for the item they didnt want then they pay for that item (which ebay automatically refunds to them after 7 days) in the meantime they complain as they havent recieved the item that they wanted but hadnt paid for. oh the joys of ebay

Thing I don't understand is these people are dumb enough to pull scams and give their name and address to you?
A buddy of mine had someone try to scam him bought an item paid for it and received a worthless item and the seller said he was being scammed and offered prove of postage. said mate didn't take this well and drove a long way to knock on the guys door, then knocked on his face, an hysteric wife/ girlfriend then gave him his item back. he lost out in the longrun due to the cost of driving there but is happy with the resolve.

If the guy hadn't lived reet up in Scotland I'd have driven up there without a moment's hesitation! Good on your mate though, I bet the guy's face was a (rather bruised) picture :-D
Another scam to watch out for is - You win on eBay then go and collect & pay cash, the seller will then lodge an unpaid item case against you which will eventually result in them getting their seller fees refunded. For something big, like a car, it can be a decent amount of quids. This scam won't cost you owt financially, but it affects your reputation, particularly as they'll usually leave a neg feedback to bolster their case against you. Cretins.

Have you actually used ebay in the last 2 years as sellers haven't been able to leave negative feedback for any reason for at least that long

I had someone log a case against me, saying that a toy I posted didn't arrive, the buyer had paid £100 so I posted it very securely! Lol
Anyway, I emailed the buyer saying "did you receive the item" reply came "yes thanks it's great". I forwarded this to PayPal and the case was miraculously closed! #genius

one to watch out for guys is someone paying via paypal then collecting the item, a mate had this and a week later the guy opened a case saying the item never arrived, paypal wanted proof of posting which my mate couldnt give as the item was collected and paypal refunded the crook.

I once had someone collect a bike from me, saying that they were happy with the bike. Then the following day say that the bike wasn't as discribed. I didn't remember that they collected it blindfolded, so refused a refund?

I think i might have just been done . I sold a old Triumph motorbike frame for £135 , a couple of hundred under what it should have gone for . I stated no postage , cash on collection .
I contacted the winning bidder about collection but heard nothing after 24 hrs . I then logged in to find he had paid with paypal - a woorry as i had already googled his postcode which was Glasgow and I'm in Oxfordshire .
I then got a message telling , not asking that i could wrap it up for him and he would send a courier , assuming i would gpo out and buy materials for this and had the time to do it which i don't .
I then opened my emails to see he had sent me various pictures of how to wrap things etc .
I then refunded him via ebay .
I then logged into paypal to find he had paid me a further £10 as he had mentioned paying for packing . I then noticied paypal had charged me £7 for refunding the £135 so i am £7 because someone assumes they can get you to do what they want !!
I then noticied under the £135 refund it said something about this being able to be reversed , so I'm wondering if its one of these things where they never actually pay you as its still pending or something
I did find the chap on Facebook and he seems odd , 50 odd , says he lives in the far east somewhere , no family pics just photos with attractive young asian women .... His Glasgow address was some sort of importer of goods form asia .
All very strange and totally unwanted hassle .

If you refunded from the money he had paid you then as far as I know PayPal just refund the fee they charged you to accept the payment in the first place. Not sure how it works if it has been with drawn automatically to your bank account though.

The bloke is a total nutter , he had threatened me by saying the frame is his by law after winning it in the auction and that I'm commiting a crime - after all that he stills wants it and has asked for my bank details so he can pay and arrange collection !!
Absolute wack job ! I don't think he is trying to con me he just thinks he can threaten people and they will do what he wants !!
By far the most annoying on yet !!
