Toyota MR2 1.8 Roadster for sale complete with hardtop.

MOT Dec 15
I bought this at the end of the last winter intending it to take place of my mk1 mr2 while the roads were salted. As it happened I bought it too late, the sun came out and I just used my mk1 and this has gone unused. Our first arrival to the family along with months in hospital mean this isn't going to get used any time soon.
It's in great condition mechanically, and has no rust at all, the underside is also excellent. Drives very well indeed, everything is tight and quiet. Engine pulls well, steering is very nice (more on that below) and the brakes are nice and positive.
When I bought it, I removed the precats as a preventative measure...if you are looking for one of these you have no doubt read about it, but the cats can break up and get sucked back into the engine causing terminal damage. The main cat is still in place so is no problem for MOT time.
The other thing I did straight away was get rid of the power steering! Coming from a mk1 with lovely steering feel, I found this rediculously light and very twitchy/nervous. The job has been done properly by removing and stripping the steering rack and removing the dividing piston inside, then built back up after greasing everything and blanking off the hose fittings. This just turns it into a quick ratio proper manual rack, and you don't have the resistance of pumping the hyd fluid backwards and forwards. Obviously the steering is heavier at parking speeds but it's lovely once the speed is up with much better feel.
Bodywork wise, there are lots of small stonechips on the bonnet, a small dent on the ns front wing (pictured) and there are blanking plugs in the boot lid where a spoiler has been mounted at some point. I have only looked at the soft top once briefly but remember it had some small cracks in it, probably repairable. I would only be seen in it with the hardtop on anyway! The interior is pretty good, bar a couple of things that someone has stuck on the dash and the rear console and a hideous gear knob. I haven't attempted to remove these.
One of the worst bits is the engine bay - see the photo below but it looks like a child has been let loose with a paint pot, red paint on everything including wiring and hoses. You could attempt to remove it or paint over it...or just keep the engine cover shut.
Anyway, the car is kept in Ardleigh near Colchester. Either PM me on here or call/text 07872898991.
Price wise, I'll say £1550 ono with the hardtop.
