Just noticed this, not sure if its always happened. But when I apply the handbrake the brake warning light (circle with the lines around it) comes on. Hasn't been on at any other time. Is this usual? If not any ideas? No leaks and the fluid level it at max.
Faulty connection on the reservoir cap is my current line of thinking.

totally normal. it's just warning you the handbrake is on.

Ditto, it was faulty before, now it's working properly.

It's got a parking brake light too, which is what I found weird.

many cars use the handbrake switch as a bulb test for the fluid level circuit (MOT test requires it to work if fitted and lifting the bonnet every time is a bit laborious

As said, all cars do it Don't worry though, I remember panicking because when I turned the ignition key on my first car, all the warning lights came on, but went out when I started the engine. I also thought my dipped beams were broken, so drove with only sidelights or full beams for weeks. I didn't think to pull the stalk towards me. Oh, and when I got towed for the first time, I thought my brakes were broken as they required so much effort to operate. Funnily enough they fixed themselves when I turned the engine on again
