These little things are awesome - pretty quick, look good and handle epicly.
What we have here is a Reliant Scimitar Sabre Mk2. It's the result of 10 years of development by Reliant to their SS1. In the 80s, the SS1 was criticised for its looks and sluggishness with the ford CVH engines. Reliant solved the engine situation by using a Nissan turbocharged engine and Rover's 1.4 K series engine. The looks were later resolved with the Sabre but It was too late by then and they went under. As a result, around 70 Sabre Mk2s were made and less than 30 are still on the road today.
This particular car left the factory with a few optional extras such as a colour coded hard top, leather interior and metallic paint.
Good points:
Galvanised chassis with fibreglass body so NO RUST!!!
Original engine replaced with a 1600cc one, giving it some poke
MOT till April 2016 (no advisories)
Interior is in nice condition
Paint and bodywork is good. The boot, spoiler, bonnet and front bumper have just been resprayed and there is hardly any bubbling on the doors or main body. The rear bumper is the worst panel on the car.
New brake discs, pads, shoes, rear cylinders and fluid
Larger, better flowing exhaust fitted
Soft top is in ok condition and the tonneu is in good condition.
Included with the car is a lot of spares including the original engine, clips, hoses, engine ancillaries, fasteners etc
Not so good bits:
There's very little really. If I was keeping it, I'd do a few things to satisfy fellow Cheshire residents such as put a mohair hood on it and have the rocker cover powder coated. The rear bumper would probably be painted if I was keeping it too.
There is something up with its idle though (not an issue, more a feature) Basically, it fluctuates a few hundred rpm sometimes. When you start the car, it'll idle nicely, then maybe after a minute, go up 200 rpm then return to normal. Blip the throttle and it'll settle down too. It doesn't effect the car in any way really but worth mentioning. If you google "K series idle", you'll see that it seems to be a common thing with them and there's no definitive cause. It doesn't bother me in the slightest and as I say, it doesn't effect the car really.
Offers around £3,500 and maybe P/X or swap WHY?
Any questions, please ask and viewing is recommended.
