Reluctantly having to sell my Townace due to a change of circumstances:-(
This van has done the rounds on retrorides:-) The readers rides thread is here:
retrorides.proboards.com/thread/140195/1989-townace-masterace-sale-soon
It's a rare 2.0 petrol, rwd, manual!
Good bits:
1989 Japanese import, Grand Saloon model with seven grey velour seats for the full 80s pimp experience.
The rear seats all fold flat to make a bed, or the middle two rotate 180 degrees to make a lounge. There a custom made Surfboard style table which slots into the curtain rails for the ultimate comfy McDs meal:-)
The rear has electric curtains, but being 26 years old they can be a bit moody. Sometimes 3 work, sometimes 4 so not only do you have the excitement of electric curtains but you have the surprise element of guessing which ones will work:-)
There are 6 sunroof, all with manual blinds. The front 4 pop up, and the Middle 2 can be removed altogether if you want to restyle the hair of all the rear passengers.
There is a hot/cool/ice box which worked fine until April, but now no longer makes ice as it runs off the Air Con which needs a re-gas.
Dual heating and cooling with separate controls in the rear for the floor and roof mounted vents.
Electric front windows and mirrors.
I've added a set of curtains behind the front seats for a little more privacy if camping.
Rwd for winter giggles, when understeer and oversteer can be combined to terrify up to 6 of your nearest and dearest.
No ABS so you need to brake properly:-)
It did have TEMS electronic suspension at one point, and one of the front shocks may still be a TEMS one. This appears to make no difference to the handling, which is... Unconventional:-) Sitting over the front axle makes for ultimate steering feel (that bit is made up).
It has yellow fog lights for max JDM points.
Last year it got a stainless steel longlife exhaust which is still looking well and sounding good:-)
Bad bits:
No MOT
Will post photo of fail sheet but the jist of it is:
No brakes at all- this was due to a leaking brake cylinder, virtually non-existent rear shoes and a total lack of brake fluid (due to the leak). Cylinder and shoes have since been replaced and brakes are now operational but a little soft. Would drive to MOT ok.
ARB bushes at rear - one replaced, and one in van.
Front shock bush needs replaced- new shock in van ready to be fitted.
All 4 arches need small patches welded- made a start on one corner. If you can weld this is an easy job.
Currently the van is back on its original wheels and winter tyres, I'll be selling the 240z alloys and tyres in a thread shortly.
I'm taking the stereo out to put in my Volvo so there will be a double din sized gap, but the original stereo is still available if anyone really wants to listen to radio 2 (cd and tape need looked at)
Photos will follow shortly one photobucket and my phone get back on speaking terms, and once I stop crying:-(
Looking for £400 Ono. If it doesn't sell I'll retrace my steps, find my mojo and get it back on the road.
