Model: Rover 416 SLi
Year: 1992
Mileage: 89,582 (as of today, but it still gets used)
MOT: 19 January 2016
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Price:£500! £250!
This is a Honda-engined (that's a good thing) Rover 400 saloon that's been well maintained but has definitely seen better days. It makes a great noise but ultimately doesn't actually go very fast, so it's better suited to a relaxed and very comfortable drive. Electric windows, a sunroof and central locking top the equipment list. There's also an aftermarket radio/CD player.
Amazingly, it seems like everything works. I won't quite make that a guarantee, as it's a 23 year old Rover and something may stop working this afternoon, but right now it's all good.
Cosmetically it's not mint, with some surface rust around the edges of doors and such like, and the paint job on the spoiler leaves abit to be desired, but it's all solid and nothing has fallen off yet.
Good bits
It's actually quite nice. Really. I enjoy driving this one.
Everything works.
There's a new(ish) set of Uniroyal tyres all round
Wheels from a modern 200 (I think) so plenty of life left there
Spoiler from an old 216GTi, so it goes faster and attracts girls.
It's pretty economical, averaging around 45mpg on gentle motorway drives
Bad bits
There's some surface rust around the edges of doors and the like
There are quite a few creaks and squeaks
Brakes work well and passed the MOT with ease, but judder a fair bit
Heater knob is loose but the heater does still work
Today there are 89.582 miles on the clock, although that will go up as the car does get used. There's also an MOT on the car until 19 January next year, so you've got what's left of summer, autumn and a bit of winter of of worry free motoring ahead of you.
This will be available from Sunday 6 September, as I get my actual proper new car then, so do bear that in mind.
£250and it's yours. Feel free to DM me, email me at phil.huff@frontseatdriver.co.uk, or call me on 07905794303 (although I'm often unavailable on the phone, so I'd email first!)
