Overview
This is the private sale of a two-owner, 1984 T25 Volkswagen Pick-up with 1.9 litre, water cooled petrol engine.
This vehicle is in excellent condition without having been heavily used or abused over the years and does not suffer from the usual rust issues that you may expect with one of these pick-ups.
The T25 in question has been off the road for approximately 5 years in heated storage and has gone through re-commissioning prior to sale, including a full, clean MOT and replacing all required mechanical components.
The vehicle will be sold privately with the current owner and details are as follows;
History
The current owner purchased this T25 on 7th June 1990 having seen it for sale on a garage forecourt. They owned an airfield at the time and the pick-up was put in to use for general, light maintenance duties on the airfield itself.
Having been stored in the aircraft hangar during it’s time in service there, the body and chassis of the vehicle are in excellent condition, without the rot that you may expect or rusty drop-side panels.
MOT certificates are present back to 1987 and the vehicle has circa 95,600 miles on the clock. Prior to the current MOT, the last MOT was conducted in 2011 when the vehicle was taken off the road and stored.
The vehicle is HPI clear and now has an MOT until 1st July 2016 with no advisories.
Body
The bodywork is in very good condition overall without the usual rust issues. The vehicle was resprayed to an acceptable standard just prior to going in to storage, in a slightly creamier shade of white than standard. We feel that this colour sets off the T25 nicely, offering a blank canvas for the next owner to personalise as they see fit.
All drop-side panels are in good order and not rotten, along with the pick-up bed itself which is in a very solid state having only seen light usage. A chrome bar had previously been fitted behind the cab which does not look out of place.
There is some slight bubbling on the side lower storage doors. However, this is in the paint only, with the metal itself being very solid still and not rotten. The brown that you can see on the inside of the storage doors is rust proofing wax, not dirt or rust.
Mechanical/Running gear
The mechanicals of the vehicle are in very good order and the T25 drives nice and tightly. The engine starts without issue, drives and changes gear well and the brakes pull-up sharply too.
Underneath, the chassis of this T25 is in excellent, solid condition without needing repair or having had any. There are four good tyres fitted with the original steel wheels which are clean and straight.
As part of the recommissioning, we have replaced the fuel pump with a new one, along with a new brake master cylinder. Finally, the front to rear water pipes were a little crusty, so a new, bespoke stainless steel set from VW Heritage has been fitted to the vehicle for the next owner’s peace of mind.
Interior
The interior of this T25 is all original and functional. The driver’s seat cover is ripped, which is quite common on these. We have left this as-is for the new owner to decide if to repair the original seat, or re-trim to their own tastes.
There are three front seats with belts and the original rubber covering to the floor.
Everything works – not that there’s much to go wrong in the cabin! There is no stereo fitted.
Summary
If you are looking for a low-owner, very original T25 that hasn’t been messed with or needs a full restoration, then we feel that you’d be hard pushed to find another like this one.
It’s a solid vehicle that drives very well and offers an excellent blank canvas for the next owner to put their own mark on this lovely T25.
