Thanks for the comments guys. s1105117 I've been driving nearly 30 years now and have never had a car pass its mot first time, and this time was no different lol! The smurf failed on a front ball joint , cracked number plate and headlight aim, so nothing really. I ordered a new suspension arm/ball joint yesterday so once that arrives I'll get it sorted, and get it in for retest. Thanks for looking steve. |

Due to laptop problems I've been rubbish at keeping you folks updated. Last friday the smurf was retested and passed....  There was one advisory for an oil leak, but we all have to put up with fluid loss as we get older! A couple of new additions that I've not mentioned before are a pair of gti washer jets, that give two jets of water per side rather than the one per side on the original. Only a small thing but the windscreen cleans much easier now. I've also fitted a pair of 6x9 speakers to the parcel shelf, I like to be able to have my music loud enough that I can't hear myself singing along  There is also a pair of six inch speakers to fit up front, but I'm waiting on speaker rings arriving so I can fit them. You may remember last year when I got the smurf, I bought two pairs of pioneer speakers that fit in the original speaker location behind the grills on the doors and on the rear pillars. They are perfectly good speakers, I just needed more loudness. If anyone reading wants the two pairs of pioneer speakers, give me a shout. Thanks for looking Steve. |

Hi gang how we all doing? Wow nearly five months since I last updated. To be honest I'd not done anything to the smurf since the mot in April, I've been busy in the back garden making it more disabled dog friendly, because although Milly can get around no problem now and can go out for walks she is always going to be a wobbly wee dog now. The whole back garden was basically just stone chipped, and with Milly's tiny wee paws and her wobbliness it was just no good. We now have a patio and a grassed area, and Miss Milly seems to be much happier, so it was all worth it. Anyway back to car stuff. A few weeks back the d/s/f balljoint started knocking, so I ordered a new one and whilst I was fitting it I found another water leak. There is a metal water pipe that runs along the chassis leg at the bottom of the engine on the driver side. It looks like this....  Well that's what a new one looks like, mine looked very, very crusty and had water seeping from it. The jubilee clips looked like they would turn to cheese if I touched them, so I got a couple of new ones, and thought id whip it off clean up the metal pipe and refit with the new clips. Before I had chance to fit the clips it did this... |

 So I took another look and decided that a new metal water pipe was also needed. 26 quid later and the new pipe arrived this morning. I decided to give it a rub down and paint it. It's very exposed to the elements so three coats of etch primer and a few coats of black paint should hopefully mean it's only rusting from the inside, at least for a few years anyway. Here is said pipe in my " spray booth "....  Think I'll give it a few more coats of paint tomorrow, then fit it on Monday. And there you have it, one very boring update about rusty colored water and back gardens! Thanks for looking steve |

Bloody committed heading so far south for your motor. I've never tried a 205 but that looks like a bit of fun.

DWDarkWheels Hows it going mate? Yeah it was a long way to go, don't know how far you read but if you got to page 16 you will know it is no more  But I got straight back out there and did it again

JoshO Yeah it really couldn't be in a worse place eh? Still when the car was designed in the 80s, Peugeot probably didn't expect there cars to last this long lol!

JoshO I had an AX GT back in about 1994 ish. I think it was a 89 G plate. It was a total dog lol! I needed a car and was totally blinded by the GTIness! No it cant have been only 6 years old, so I've got the dates wrong but anyway it was a dog/lemon but I loved it. I've just done something really stupid, something I've been thinking about since I bought the smurf. I'm sad and probably need help but I've never been happy that smurf has a 90s reg when it's an 80s car. So about 25 seconds after I bought the smurf I was looking on the private reg sites to see if there was an 80s number plate that had the slightest relevance to either me or the car. A9 UXD was available for about £250, bloody perfect, A9 a local main road near me, but when you put it in front of uxd its pretty much the engine code. If you didn't know its the engine code it just looks like a 1983 number plate. So its not obviously a private plate, just if you know your peugeots. I'm sitting typing this looking over at my girlfriend, I've not told her yet, its a total waste of money, and shes not going to be best impressed! ( I just had to ask her how to spell impressed!) so you lovely folk on RR know about it before she does lol! Thanks for reading steve
