JoshO Ha ha, no mate the td is not in yet. Infact I haven't even got it yet. I couldn't afford to pay for the engine and get the clutch kit and other associated bits all at the same time. It turned out the seller of the engine was quite happy for me to leave getting it for a few weeks, as he is really busy, so worked out fine. Right update... I will start by saying sorry I have no pics. For some reason I can see the pics on my camera but can't find them when I try to transfer them to my laptop, weird! I got the 8.04 train from Forres to Inverness on Monday. I was carrying a rucksack with the clutch kit, 2 liters of oil, and a load of other stuff, so I was glad to get to Ricky's at around 9am. So a quick cup of coffee and we made a start. It all went really smoothly and by 11am the gearbox was out.Once out I found the thrust bearing in about 50 pieces and one very large piece was behind the diaphragm spring , no wonder the clutch pedal was so heavy! I unbolted the clutch and once off I could see the friction plate. Well you know how there are grooves cut into the plate? well they had been completely worn away ( i did take pics honest!). Anyway the new clutch was bolted up with the aid of an alignment tool borrowed from my mate with the garage, cheers mate. Sliding the gearbox back on was easy and it all bolted back together no problem. By 4pm the job was jobbed woo hoo! Test drive all went well, and the clutch pedal was so much lighter , so I'm a happy man. cheers steve.

RIP Doris....      Cant believe that myself and girlfriend walked away from this with only minor injuries. Milly my beautiful little dog is still at the vets. She smashed her head on the dashboard, we thought she was dead at first, she was just laying there limp and not moving. Luckily she started to come round but was enable to stand or support herself. I have to say a massive thankyou to the ambulance staff for letting me take her in to the ambulance and wrapping her in a blanket. Another massive thanks to my mum and her husband for coming and taking milly to the vets. The vet thinks she has concussion and is in shock. They have her on a drip and kept her overnight and they tell me she is slowly getting better, but the worry is that she may have brain damage. I am waiting on a call from them this morning to tell me how she is. Cheers steve. |

Mike Cheers mate, both me and my girlfriend can hardly move today, we are just so sore. I also have a swolen nose and missing tooth from smashing my face on the steering wheel!

faker I will put some more pics up later that will maybe show how it happened, but basically the guy in the van was traveling in the opposite direction to us. There was a car in front of the van that slammed its brakes on late to try to take a left turn, the guy in the van locked up and his van slid sideways onto our side of the road. I couldn't stop and hit it at about 40 mph, the van was probably doing about the same speed. Oh and the car that caused it all drove off oblivious to the fact!!

Glad you are all OK, was the other driver fine?

This pic shows a wrinkle down the rear quarter panel...  and on the roof...  Thing is the impact was all at the front, we weren't hit anywhere else, so all the damage was caused just by the shear force of the front end impact! In this pic the van has been moved, but you can see the junction that the guy in the car, braked for....  |

henspeed Yeah the van driver was fine. We hit him on the passenger side and he had an air bag to soften the blow too. It happened on the Grantown road just outside Forres.

Jesus Christ mate... So glad there was no major losses there... hope the pooch pulls through :/
Total gutter about Doris but its only a car at the end of the day... not flesh and bone. It did well letting you both walk too as it looks a sore one.

Liability will go to the van driver. If he was following close enough to have to take evasive action behind a heavily braking car, then he was too close or not paying attention.
Unfortunately you are the innocent party in this, hopefully pooch is ok and your sore bits recover quickly.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
I have just heard from the vet, and they tell me they think Milly has damaged her neck/spine as she still can't move her legs,but she does have feeling in them. They are going to xray her and let me know what they find.
Poor little Milly, fingers crossed its not too bad.

I know i will get a fox image here, but curse word! Gutted for you mate as I have been following this thread and your work is impressive.. tho glad you and your lady, that is obviously the important bit. car did well to let you walk away, Cant believe the guy who ultimately caused it just drove off.. van was probably speeding/too close tho. I think maybe if anyone has a 205 they want to move on they should donate it your way!hope your doggy is ok ite bud! Gutted.. chin up tho!

Gutted for you, the car at the end of the day is just metal, it's replaceable, main thing is you and the lady are relatively unharmed, looks like you got away lightly considering.
Really hope Milly picks up, I would be in bits if my patterdale got hurt, he's always strapped in when he's in the car (as much due to the fact he'd be everywhere if he wasn't as for his own safety)
