I am wanting to fit 3 way retractable seat belts to the truck as part of the rebuild. Take a look at the photos, lifted from a "How to guide thread" disregard the commentary. I'm sure a mk2 golf one would do it. Old enough to not have any explosive tensioners and you might find some in a scrap yard. Don't seem to have one spare to look at in the house.

I don´t know how the builder added the fixing points, but it won´t be enough to simply weld in a big nut from the rear. It´s mandatory to add a big piece of extra sheet metal of a certain thickness from behind, otherwise the nut will only be torn out of the hole, not aiding much in case... A rather difficult area to get this done will be in the upper b-pillow, without cutting it open. These are what you need grizz. to get them up the pillars at work we drill the 7/16 hole where required in the pillar, then use the plate to mark and drill the smaller hole through, thread a piece of wire down through the larger hole to a suitable larger hole further down (if your truck hasn't got a larger hole further down then you can holesaw a hole just big enough for the plate to pass through and grommet it afterwards) Next you'll need to thread the plate onto the the wire and tie a knot big enough not to pull through, then it's a case of pulling the plate up the pillar using the wire until it's in situ behind the hole. If the small hole doesn't line up, release the pressure slightly and twiddle the wire round until it does, a rivet in the smaller hole holds the stress plate in position ready for you to remove the wire and fit the bolt (if the plate will fit in the pillar diagonally then the smaller hole can be directly below the bolt hole and thus mostly hidden when the seatbelt is not being used)

Would van or minibus ones be any good ? My Mk2 Transit has similar enclosed ones. A lot of car ones, at least newer ones have them tucked behind trim.
