I'm asking £750 for this on Gumtree, but that's open to negotiation for RR people.

Bought this in a time of need. I'd bought a v6 diesel Audi, and it's not really my thing so sold it on, and bought this to get me by, but now I want something with more poke, and my Mk2 golf arrives today, so I could do with this away from the house so I can pop the 4Motion I've got over and start using that for a daily till the Mk2 is done.
First some pics.
2000 Golf SE with the 1.6 16v 105BHP engine.
Cheap to run and insure, returning a average mixed of between 39 and 42mpg, some history as shown.
To be honest, it's fairly decent for what it is, but the Mk4 is a heavy car, these engines and boxes fit in Lupo's and Arosa's so sell fairly well on their own, but in a Mk4 it's very much a do the job, rather than set the world on fire sort of affair.
Apparently they're similar to the 2.0 8v engine in terms of performance, but these deliver better fuel economy when doing mixed miles.
It's a 2000 car, so has the nicer type MK4 dash with lovely blue illumination and the proper matrix display, privacy rear glass and rear windows, and a pioneer MP3/WMA CD player with iPod and Auxiliary 3.5mm input.
It's got Mk4 TDI wheels, they were on the car when I got it, they're round, the tyres are legal.. so I left it as it was.
Recently replaced the oil pressure sensor switch, which is known to fail on these cars (it was seeping a small amount of oil) and it's been incredibly reliable. There is a small blow on the front flexible section of the exhaust, I suspect caused by it catching some speed bumps. These are available on eBay from as little as £30.00, or the repair flexible section can be chopped and replaced with a cheaper item from auto factors, the flexi is on a straight pipe, it's easy to do.. but this car doesn't interest me.. I've got a beetle, and a MK2 golf that want my attention more, and it's not bad enough to warrant replacement just yet. Apparently it's a subframe off job to fit, but, according to a friend in the trade, you can wiggle it through if you loosen an engine mount.
The bodywork is bright and very tidy, aside from a small mark on the front lower splitter, some age related marks, and the usual MK4 golf corrosion appearing around the rear hatch, these aren't serious enough to replace the panel, or even bother with.. it's a cheap car, treat it as such.
The car drives very well, and everything works as it should other than the air-conditioning. I've not investigated this, but I suspect it needs re-gassing, the compressor comes on, nothing looks broken.
Clutch is smooth and not high, gear changes are fluid smooth with no crunching, and the engine is quiet aside from the small blow on the flexi at higher revs.
It'd probably benefit from a service, I've not got the oil but I do have a filter from when I had my Arosa, so that's in the boot.
I'll check back on here, but text or call, 078one one zero five 0 074, or email david dot dorson at gmail dot com.
