Super stuck adjustable coil over collar ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
I got some of my old 14's back from The Dungeon yesterday so I figured it would be rude not to put them on the Datsun... up it went on the jack, 15" off and 14" on, back down... it looked pretty good again, but the arch gap was too large (obviously), so up it went again. I wound down the lower collar no problem, application of a wire brush, a bit of penetrating fluid to make things easier and soon it was lower than I think it has been before, giving me room to move the top collar down and then wind the bottom one up again.
The top collar was stuff, but it still had some tension from the spring on it, soon enough it had moved beyond the length of the spring and it all moved easier, never particularly easy going, the bottom collar I wound down with my fingers, the top needed constant spannering. Then it just stopped. I tried more wire brushing around it, more penetrating fluid than I suspect is sensible, gave it some time to work, and nothing. I applied some gentle tapping around the collar, I applied some slightly firmer tapping, I tried applying more pressure and a longer lever, but nothing would shift it.
I can run the car with the suspension at this height without much of a problem, but I would really rather have it adjustable as I want to put it in low show formation at The Gathering, and then raise it up (so I can refit the ARB) to go up the track at the end of the day.
So.... help! ...
