Hi all got my daily merc up for sale as I fancy a change again so thought I'd share it on retro rides first before eBay gumtree etc.
Sold and brought a few cars & parts on here so met a couple of members already:)
Okay on to the merc.
It's a 1998 in metallic purple actual colour is called 'Violan Met' code 339 lovely deep colour and one of the reasons I brought it in the 1st place.
Comes with contrasting dark blue/purple interior & full leather.
Exterior: As stated it's a lovely colour but unfortunately it does have the usual rust issues with this era of Mercedes & does have the odd scab & a bit around the wheel arches.
It's nowhere near as bad as a lot of them in fact it's a lot tidier than most just with bubbling under the paint mainly.
No issues with sending more detailed pictures to interested parties.
I changed the bonnet as this was pretty bad.
Oh & the front bumper has a crack in the plastic but comes supplied with a replacement in identical colour.
On the whole the car still turns heads & gets a lot of positive feedback
Interior: Comes with all the Mercedes-Benz build quality and spec you would like & it was bang on the money when they made these it's wore really well.
Nice contrasting trim in deep blue/purple with the dark ash wood only found on AMG & avant-garde models.
Full leather 3 stage electric memory seats, x4 headrests & 2 gangster full size arm rests with bags of room!
Electronic headrest adjust & also steering column.
Dual stage climate control, x4 electric windows, electric folding heated mirrors
Cruise control etc etc.
Suspension: The avant-garde models come lower than standard with stiffer shocks so it's not as wallows as you might expect, also I chopped a bit out of the rear springs so it's a fair deal lower than stock.
If you don't like it then it's literally a half hour job on a ramp to put stock springs back in its peice of cake.
Comes on a set of later face-lift 2001 onwards 5 spoke 17's with a diamond cut lip.
Could do with a couple of tyres in all honesty but legal as they are.
Engine/mechanicals:
For anyone unaware of the Om606 diesel engine I suggest that you have a look into them and get some background information as this is also part the reason for my wanting to own a w210.
It's essentially the 2jz of the diesel world & about as tunable as they come.
Reliability isn't a problem they are known to go to over 500k no issues, also handy that they are on a camchain so no belt changes to worry about.
It's a 3.0 straight 6 24v so revs out lovely & is very smooth.
Only issues seem common is the fuel hoses & o rings fail letting air in the system but these have all been renued recently with receipts.
Modifications:
As stated it's got the rear springs chopped a little, also has been decatted stealthily so will still pass mot
Also has a 3" straight pipe fitted, have a listen to them on YouTube they sound ace!
I also have a tuning box fitted that ups the fuelling that is both switchable and adjustable.
I would say the car is 200bhp ish with it turned up as they are 177bhp stock, this is just a guesstimate obviously.
Service History: The car was previously owned by a doctor & as such has had sheadloads of money spent.
No expense spared whilst owned by the guy it has all the books stamped by Mercedes-Benz before I owned it & load of receipts from them too.
Car is Mot'd until 21st December,no tax due to the new rules.
Think is was advised on a ballpoint last mot & as stated will need couple of tyres as for anything else I doubt it, she drives well but your more than welcome to have a good poke around.
This car was perhaps 40k+ brand new & although it's not immaculate it still is an excellent car and I think pretty reasonable at £750 ono
