Hello, I'll be honest, i bought this car unseen, i had hoped to grab a little bargain, but it turned out to be not so much of a bargain after all
So this is a 1995 940 with a low pressure turbo and M90 manual gearbox (this is the best one to have!)
the engine is a B230FK.
It does have a current MOT until sometime in september (cant remember exact date will check and update it)
the mileage is at 157k~
to be honest i had really really hoped this would be something i could fix up and use, as i've always wanted a turquoise 940, and M90/LPT is the absolute best combination. but right now i really don't have the time or money needed to complete this project.
so the backstory is, i bought this unseen over the phone after seeing it advertised on autotrader, it mentioned nothing about how the car ran, i expected it to need a tune up, but in the past ive always been very pleasantly surprised with these old redblocks. however on arrival i find it's not going to be that simple.
I will say the car did make it all the way home to tamworth from warrington (80 miles~) fairly easily, but the problems are apparent, firstly there seems to be a problem with the clutch, most of the time it works, but quite often the clutch just doesn't work, and i mean pressing it simply does nothing, it's as if you're not pressing the clutch at all, and you just can't change gear, we managed to tackle this by pumping the clutch, this seemed to "free" it up as such and allowed us to drive home. however it loses not a drop of fluid so I'm not sure what's going on, also the clutch isnt slipping at all, and when it's working it pulls strong and early, so I'm not really sure what to think about this??
secondly it is losing oil, i'm not sure where but it's somewhere high up ish cam cover/oil cap i think, because it's dripping down onto the exhaust and making a lovely burning smell/light smoke. to be honest it's not a massive amount of oil, i checked the oil before leaving and when getting home and i couldnt really see any diffefrence on teh dip stick, but it must be fresh oil coming from somewhere.
other than that there isn't a whole lot wrong with it, i believe there are no advisories on the MOT (paperwork still in post, but it should arrive within the next day or 2, i never got the chance to put it into my name so i can give it straight to the new owner into their name - and don't have to wait months for DVLA to return it to me)
the exterior is pretty nice to be honest, there is a nice sizeable dent in the o/s wing but its only cosmetic, and the bonnet appears to be slightly dented (only noticeable in certain light) as well as some paint/lacquer fading. I did also nick the rear 2 window trims for my other 940.
lastly the interior, it's pretty well shot if i'm honest, my advice would be if you're wanting to completely restore this car, is find a totally new interior, as the front seats have holes in, and are in general bad condition. and there are bits of interior trim missing all over.
other than that everything appears to work, but ive only driving it 2 times so i might have missed something, also the temp gauge doesnt work.
overall this definitley could be a really niec car, the M90 alone should be worth ~£150 now a days. and if you're up for sorting the engine oil problem it should be a great reliable car, 150k isn't that high mileage for one of these.
i'm asking for £300 with just cover what i paid + cost i incured to collect it.
I'm sure you could drive the car to wherever you want to, but i certainly wouldn't guarantee it, it does have problems like i stated!
available for viewing anytime in tamworth (B77) call or text me on 07982 147 327 or message me on here if you're interested.
