2000 W plate BMW 318i Saloon in Black.
So I recently bought this from a friend who could no longer afford to use it to commute 100 miles a day. I was going to tidy it up and use it but to be honest it doesnt really suit my needs I either need something bigger or much smaller. It needed a few jobs a couple I have done. Perfectly usable as is while doing the smaller jobs.
Engine
Standard N/A 1.9 engine starts first time every time and runs very smooth and quiet once on the move. There is an air leak which I'm struggling to locate which means its hunting a little at idle. Runs fantastic once on the move. I will try and find the air leak before it goes but I cant promise anything. It moves down the road nicely while all the time returning pretty good MPG. 40mpg on a run is not unachievable but 30mpg is average. The engine does not use any water, oil or produce any smoke. The car comes with the 5 speed manual gearbox which works as it should. I have just fitted a brand new rear silencer.
Bodywork
The body work is ok for what it is. 15 years old so arches are showing some signs of rust and there is lacquer peel on both rear doors and has a few dings here and there. However it looks ok from a little way away.
Interior
Standard 318I spec, Drivers bolster showing a little wear, gear knob and steering wheel are worn. The friend I got it from was a sand blaster so while I've given it a good clean It would benefit from another going over. (which I will try to do if I've got the time) Radio cassette player, electric windows in the front (drivers currently not working) centre arm rest, climate control, air conditioning.
Exterior
The car comes with the standard 17" alloy wheels, they do have a few kerb marks, will require a tyre and the tracking doing.
Handbrake is non functional, rebuild kit is £25 and is certainly a DIY job.
All in all its a decent run around for someone to tinker with ready for MOT.
