Thanks again guys! Didn't think my old Benz would get so much love really! Ray, thanks for doing that for me mate. Do you have a link to the item on Pistonheads? I can't seem to find it. No problem fella - always happy to help a retro rider.... Cheers Ray. ☺
Yep, the old girl's going over to Belfast next month. I know of John from the 190 forum so I know its going to the best possible home. A good result!
Reading shampooefficient's posts though, I wish I knew there was someone local who could have helped out with the jobs to do on the car. I should pay more attention on here!
Mind, some folk are already speculating on how long it'll be until I'm back in an old Merc again...

Ah, I tend to keep myself to myself. You'll occasionally see me clutching a spanner, with a sign round my neck saying "will work for bacon butties"...
Seriously though, I'm a 190 nut, got two in, erm, progress, at the moment. When you get your next one (which you will, you know they get under your skin), just give me a shout!

Glad it's gone to a good home, just a shame it isn't my home it's gone to

I'll ship you over to Belfast and feed you unlimited bacon butties, tea and biccies until my 260E and Andy's 190e are mechanically perfect. How does that sound? I might even give you some cash!

Hi again all.
Right then, the 190 is back up for sale.
Basically, the last sale fell through. No fault at all of John I have to point out. The car broke down a few miles within him picking it up. He had breakdown cover but the company couldn't get John and the car all the way back to Northern Ireland, so sadly he had to leave the car with me and fly back home. Very regrettable and big thanks have to go to John for being a good sport over the whole thing after having an entire (long) day of his wasted.
The car as mentioned in the ad had misbehaved a couple of times but had always sorted itself out after a good run and I had always put it down to the usual 2.6 problem of damp in the dizzy cap after being standing. However this time, once John had set off, it died and wasnt going anywhere. The breakdown mechanic diagnosed a dead fuel pump.
Sadly, now with working sometimes 6 days a week and being tied up on weekends I haven't yet been able to get to work on the car yet. It had been my intention to get it running, fix the other aforementioned issues and get it up for sale again, or even keep it depending on whether or not I bonded with the Octavia. But I now think I'd rather get this moved on if possible, simply because I don't want to have it standing around on my drive with the bad weather coming (190s don't take kindly to this..) The car is basically as it is in the first post , but now needing a fuel pump to run. I have a brand new fuel pump, ready to go on.
So to sum up, a very late 190e with the desirable 2.6 engine with auto box. In one of the best later colours, with factory option leather in great condition and the very rare sportline chassis option.
Bodywork and shell are in great condition, no rot in the usual 190 areas.
It needs,
Water pump (supplied) as has a slow coolant leak Front strut top mounts (supplied) as there is a creak going over bumps, due to the originals perishing. Fuel pump (supplied) MOT runs out at the end of the month, no advisories on last two. Will probably need an interim service once up and running again.
Full (long) spec and photos are in the first post. Still has the potential to be a fantastic 190. You will have a search on your hands to find one as solid and in this colour and spec. And before he fuel pump went, it was an absolutely belter of a drive, plenty of torque from the straight six and the sportline suspension pack really makes a difference. A weekend's work will get it spot on.
£600 seem fair? Good sorted 2.6 sportlines are starting to hit the £3k plus mark now.
