Prettiest car there, Porsche 904 Porsche 917 Fat ass Porker Cool CSL sounded awesome on track Old skool Capri Lovely Suffolk C-type replica. You can build this for £60K!!

It was an excellent day out, lucked out on the weather yesterday too, pretty miserable Friday and today by all accounts.
That 'Fat ass Porker' was pretty slow on track for all the noise it made. The yellow Chevron B8 was a thing of beauty too.

We were indeed lucky with the weather.
Matt97, I have a friend who works with Simpsons. That TC Mondeo is mental. The engine is so low down that the driver side driveshaft runs through the V in the block!!

Randywanger, the Lolas and Chevron race was the main reason I went.
We stoood near the end of Wellington straight and the speed/noise was immense. Agreed the RSR was slow but sometimes that's down to having an amateur driver racing with pros.
That big block Corvette sounded awesome too.

We went on Friday with the intention of staying all day but gave up at 4 as we were soaked through and cold despite wearing wet weather kit.

Looks like a great event, despite the great British weather playing its part I was trying to get Sam Thomas Racing to bring this to The Gathering, but to no avail Will be in the calendar for next year I think.

I went on yesterday, weather was reasonable and I had a great time with my mates.
Those Lolas were fantastic; for one race we were at the corner before the start/finish straight and the noise of four of them accelerating hard was ferocious!

Hi docjock thanks for that bit of information, never knew that! The first thing me and my dad said when we saw the Mondeo and the Primera in the Simpson tent was "look how low and far back the engines sit! It was great to see the Mondeo actually because the last time i saw one was probably back in 2000 when i was about 3yrs old so i can't really remember them! That's a shame HoTWire , the line up still looks awesome though! I think a road going E9 is stunning so to actually see a race spec E9 was a real treat for me, sounded great as well! I would recommend going to the Silverstone Classic, even if it's just for the Friday. Regards, Matt

No problem Matt.
More useless Mondeo info, that car cost £300k to build.

No problem Matt. More useless Mondeo info, that car cost £300k to build. I think you mean useful I have been reading a bit more about them, it was rumoured Ford spent £12 million that 2000 season on having 4 cars built in total after one was destroyed and running the 3 cars for the season! Crazy amount of money if that figure is correct. Is the car above the one that sold for over £100,000 in 2014? Cheers, Matt

I should have been there, had 3 day tickets + camping at Woodlands, but due to an unfortunate accident about 6 weeks ago, I smashed my heel, and am still in a cast, so I couldn't go , real pity about the miserable weather tho !, I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed camping with that weather either I had my E30 booked in through BMWCC. Have to say the Jaguar area looked a bit of a mud bath ! was it like that all over the display area ?

No, around half the jaguar area appeared to be the worst with lots of standing water. Woodlands was also a bit boggy in places Sorry to hear about your foot, there's always next year
