Time has come to move this one on! I have owned the car for about 18 months and have used it daily, Its a great practical and usable car capable of carrying 5 people in comfort or with the seats folded down even more load than your average car based van! The car has hardly missed a beat in this time but it is now in need of a little bit of work for its next MOT (that i will detail below.) Never fear tho, you have until January so plenty of time to get these things sorted and afterwards you should end up with a pretty valuable car. (Its not unusual to see a decent montego go over the £1000 mark now.)
From the photos you can obviously see that car has been lowered over banded steels (the originals widened to 14x7.5" with virtually brand new 195/45/14s). The front and rear springs have been cut resulting in around a 2-3" drop, just about enough to clear speed bumps and all that so it can still be used no problem!
Work for next MOT will probably include welding to the two rear arches which have both been filled by the previous owner. It could probably be bodged again to get it through but thats up to you, ive considered doing the repairs myself and although it looks a simple job i just haven't got the facilities free right now so decided to move the car on instead. There is also a 50 pence sized hole near the front strut mount/inner wing but its easily accessible to repair at the same time. Last MOT didn't pick it up so may not be a problem. Mechanically the car will need both shocks changing on the passenger side as they are weeping oil, again easy to bodge it through a test but may as well swap them as i have the rears already.
In general the car its pretty solid apart from what i have mentioned. Theres no holes in sills or wings, ive had a pretty good poke underneath and not found anything nasty at all really. Cosmetically it could be better, slight surface rust in areas, few iffy paint repairs, a few dents, the worse being to the drivers side wing where i was nudged on a roundabout. (i have a new wing to fit thats included in the spares.) but thats the nature of the car really, very much a usable car rather then a minter. Mechanically i haven't had any issues apart from a leaking fuel pump that i repaired (spare included too). I have also recently changed front pads and discs. The interior is fine, not mint and a bit grubby but good with no damage apart fro the usual saggy headlining. I will be taking out the aftermarket head unit but have the original i will include, you just need to get the code.
Various spares are included, rear shocks, ball joints, clutch cable, gasket sets, front wing etc. The rubbing strips that i took off the drivers side are also there ready to stick back on if you want.
Car is located in Birmingham B29 but can probably be delivered so long as your not too far away and don't mind contributing to the fuel cost. I go to Suffolk alot so anything on that route is no problem.
Looking for £750ono (Would reduce significantly if you didn't wan the wheels but I'm afraid they are the only set i have at the moment.)
