I've done a few SORNs but recently one got me stumped.
Someone passed me a car which they'd filled in the V5 to transfer to me. It was a busy spell and I knew I wouldn't have time to sort the car out for a while so I wanted to make a new SORN declaration.
At that point the V5 had been sent off so the car wasn't registered in my name - I looked on the DVLA website where it says:
"Your vehicle must be taxed and insured unless you make a SORN.
If the vehicle isn’t already registered in your name, fill in the appropriate part of the V5C and send it with the V890 SORN form. "
So I filled in the green part of the V5C, a V890, and sent it to the DVLA.
Now they've sent it back saying they can't issue a SORN based on that documentation.
As ever - no chance of getting through on the phone - so where did I go wrong?
