Plumbing up my compressor ??
I have just bought a 14CFM 50Ltr pump and want to plump it into my garage.
Can I use 15mm or 22mm standard plumbing copper pipe ? and if so, can I use compression fittings, or do they HAVE to be soldered ?
Also, what about the actual fittings to the equipment, like the filters, etc ? If for example I bought a 1/2" filter, can you buy bog standard 15 or 22mm to 1/2" plumbing fittings at B&Q for instance ?
I have planned the drops and routing, etc, but not sure what pipe/fittings to use ? Anyone done this ?
Cheers

If you look at toolstation they do nylon pipe and fittings rated for airline use, I would be wary of using pipe rated for water as it may not withstand the higher pressure Ttfn Glenn

Thanks to both of you. The nylon stuff looks great, but is a bit expensive.
I kinda knew copper was ok, but just wanted someone to confirm it. Cheers Paul H. I might invest some time into perfecting my soldering skills.

Another advantage of copper is it dissipates heat so cools the air down and this condenses moisture thus better for air tools and spraying.

Its probably cheaper to buy steels pipe and fittings and thread it . I would go with plastic so you can chop and change easily .

i looked at doing mine in the plastic, but it is far too expensive.
the steel gas pipe fittings and pipe is actually pretty cheap, my main head on the compressor which runs up to the reg, water trap and splitters mounted on the wall is done in this. the price does go up if you have to buy tooling as well though, depends if you already have 1/2" BSP taps and dies. pretty much all the malliable iron fittings are less than a quid each.
thing with copper is most people will be able to find some laying round for free pretty easily. i had a load left over after doing my house and the builder in the unit next door gave me even more, which ive got stashed to hardline over my benches, when i get round to it!

Cheers guys. I can't be arsed to thread loads of steel pipe ends, so will most likely just go with Copper and either teach myself to solder the fittings (how hard can it be !!) or just go with compression, which are pretty cheap on Ebay if you buy enough and I too have plenty of bits from doing my bathroom at home !!!
I'll research the fittings for the filters, etc.
