Another surplus vehicle in the grand clear-out, this Bedford RL has been stored under cover in recent years and is largely complete. We could potentially do a deal for truck with the workshop body we have for sale. The RL was the military development of the civilan SCL. The Green Goddess fire pump was based on the RL. Trusty Bedford 4.9 litre petrol engine fitted 4 wheel drive Classic 1950s styling Former gun tractor so is fitted with a winch More about the Bedford RL here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedford_RLLocated in Somerset. Viewing can be arranged by appointment, I'm afraid the cramped space means these are the best photos I currently have. £1500 We can possibly deliver this truck for money. Here's an example of one with a workshop body fitted, ideal camper: (We have a workshop body available and could do a deal) This is the restored example we have in the collection, to whet your whistle. Half of the load bed has been converted into a bedroom with two bunks.

what year is it? a chassis cab I take? no bed at all Hello, I believe it was built 1960-1970 but will try and find out the exact year. There is a GS body on the back without sides fitted - so just the floor and the upright stanchions at the corners (sorry the picture isn't clearer - there's another truck bed plonked on the existing one for storage at the moment) We also have a workshop body for sale which we could do a deal on. Workshop body:

Hell yes. Would go just right with his tractor. I got talking to a NZ Army Staff Sergeant at a show once and he reckoned these things do 4 mpg on the road on a good day. Would that be about right?

I would imagine somewhere between 4-8mpg. Frankenhealey had the same engine in his Green Goddess/car transporter conversion, he is swapping it out for a cummins diesel lump.

I would imagine that that will make far more money towards the end, and it's also been 'civvied up'..

The ebay truck went for £1150.
I reckon a grand and this fine piece of automotive history would find a new home fairly quickly

The truck we have does have a winch which is pretty cool (it's a former gun tractor). The only things that made me a bit 'hmmm' about the one on ebay (which did look very nice) were things like the way the wheels had been painted with no masking, which kind of makes it look a bit slapdash and makes me question the overall quality of the restoration (and what it might be hiding), but maybe I'm thinking too much about it.
