Hello All
The time has come to sell this old beast, it has served me very well over the past 6 months but having used it to move house i don't really need an estate any longer. Its a 1990 Mercedes 300TD Auto in Diamond Blue with light tan leather interior. Its done around 210 thousand miles (odo stopped working at 120 ish many years ago) and is MOTd until Feb 2016. It comes with 2 sets of keys and a shed load of service history, as well as the owners manual etc. Since I have owned it is has had new glow plugs, floor mats, boot struts and a new passenger wing (unfortunately still black).
Sadly it does need some work:
- Passenger rear wheel bearing needs replacing
- Driver front wheel bearing has a little play (i have been adjusting it periodically, but the car will come with a pair of front wheel bearing kits)
- Its due a service, but will come with oil and an oil filter (air filter looks like new)
And has a few other niggles:
- Passenger wing needs painting
- Cruise control doesn't work
- Sunroof doesn't work
- Drivers window needs a new regulator (it works but stops about an inch from fully closed)
- Passenger front track rod end was an advisory on the MOT
- Handbrake probably needs a new cable (again advised on MOT)
- Idles quite roughly (really it needs the injectors balancing and nozzles replaced to fix this, but i have just lived with it, it runs fine otherwise)
- bit of rust under rear winds and arches
I know i've painted it in a bad light, but it does have some redeeming features:
- Built like a tank - it really does feel well made, even after all these years
- Leather interior in remarkably good nick
- Working laserline alarm/immobilizer and remote central locking
- 7 seats
- Towbar
- No structural rust
Overall it is a lovely car that needs a bit of TLC and i will be sad to see it go. Really the rear wheel bearing is the only major problem, I just don't have the time or space to get it done at the moment.
I'm asking £750 for this (which is what it has cost me so far) but I am open to offers. The car is currently stored on my Nans drive in Bexley, Kent for viewings
