Not car related, but retro never the less.. I have got my mums old ts125j duster out the garage today and I'm trying to find some orange paint for it so i can respray all the panels , or what ones need it. Iv found info saying its called 'Strip Orange' .... but i cant find any paint with that name anywhere If anyone could help me locate some / preferably spray ( for edges and smaller areas ) , that would be brilliant Its one of these ( although ours has rear lights on the rear mudguard, and is totally 100% original down to its original tyres ) Thank You !

If you remove the tank then you should have an area of paint underneath that hasn't been affected by sun. Take the tank to an automotive paint specialist and they should be able to mix you an exact match. If necessary most will even make you the paint in an aerosol form. Only thing I'll say is they are a very desirable bike and nickable so ensure you keep it secure

ah wicked mate thanks for that!, didnt know they were very desirable. was only 1 on ebay, and that was over a week ago i saw that ! Ill have the tank off tomorrow to give it a thorough clean, ill see if theres any local places near me and ask them, thanks mate Aerosol would be easier, it only needs a couple of minor touch ups really.. I'm not a fan of those touch up pens myself... its been in the garage for about 28 years now, so time for a clean up .

haha yeah, its about that. I'm 25 and its been in there since before i was born, so 27-28 years id say. Tyres are a little flat, not gone hard.... going to put some air in them once the rain has stopped Have only found 1 other ts125j for sale.. its on ebay and its a bit of a mess. and its £799

Would anyone know the value of one of these bikes , or where the best place to sell it would be ?
Its pretty clean being an old M reg from the 70's
low mileage, i assume 1 owner, original keys, tyres , even down to the tool-kit beneath the seat
paintwork is actually very good. just needs a good clean.

If that original I can see it fetching £1500 - my guess rather than a proper estimate

i thought around that figure too, but I'm not a bike guy so I'm not sure. the other bikes of this era in good condition are on ebay at various prices up to 3k the one on ebay for 800 looks a right mess to be fair, but has been up on there for a while now - leading me to believe they arent very desirable lol. then i read your comment Its been sitting in the garage for near 30 years so needs some kind of refurbishment. It was brought to this house when my mum moved here in the late 80's....Was put in the garage, she got an austin mini mayfair and its been sat since then.

Don't destroy those tank and sidepanel decals get a tracing of them before you paint it so you can get them redone. Value is what someone will pay for it, sadly they aren't mega collectable but an original unmolested one is a real find, most saw off road use and ended up a field bikes. Probably £1200 minimum but could easily go higher to the right person. Honestly I would probably hold off painting anything, they are only original once, just give it a real good cleaning and polishing.

Hi, thanks for that dodgerover... i have left it well alone lol. It doesnt really need anything painting to be fair, its all just covered in a thin layer of dusty grime and i don't have the righ stuff to clean it... so iv put it back for now... This must have been one of the lucky ones then!... i didnt check the mileage tbh, but i think it was around 4k.
Its been sitting untouched for 27 odd years, but wheels still move, brakes still work - very well too ! sounds like it has good compression.
I can grab some more pictures tomorrow for a better idea on what it looks like/its value.

I'd say start at around 1200 & also I wouldn't touch anything, the original paint will make it more desireable/valuable to a buyer rather than one that's had a rattlecan spray job. Original paintwork on a vehicle is normaly more sort after Very nice little bike, if you're looking to sell then I'd stick it on eGhey with a 1000 start price (10 day auction to allow for weekend viewings). I sold my Thundercat this way, chap came and viewed, offered a fair price so the deal was done and I ended the auction early & avoided their final sale fee. If you think it wouldn't need much to get a test on it that would bump the value up, stuff like brakes, tyres etc would need attention. You could spend some time & money and see a bigger price or sell as is without the outlay/hassle......Personally I'd keep it, it'll only increase in value so is a nice investment.......Just keep the curse word secure!

I didnt want to rattle can it, i thought the same thing when i looked at the bike this morning. would be stupid really. and would de-value it. Still not 100% sure if were selling it yet, its a nice little bike and as you say, would only increase in value and get slightly rarer , so would be better to store it away nice and safe . Had too many people mess me about on ebay so still not sure about it. makes all the genuine ebayers look bad . don't have the money atm to make it roadworthy either, thats probably the only reason I'm contemplating a sale. i can get the plug replaced with spares i have, pump the tyres up, some fresh fuel + oil and see if it'll go... if thats works then i can at least sell it as a running bike if i do decide to. Id like to clean it up and polish stuff but i don't have the ability or the right stuff to do so. Had someone tell me it could be worth up to 2-3k

If you are on facebook, try "the bike bay" theres 22 thousand members on there, so plenty will see it.
Or stick it on gumtree for £1500 and see what happens.
