Factory options; metallic paint.
EXTERIOR
This superb and charming Ford Fiesta Ghia has remained with just one family owner from new and has been preserved in stunning original condition. The paintwork finished in Ford Strato Silver (code V6) has a brilliant pure shine with a uniform finish. The correct Mid Grey paintwork to the lower sections of the car remains exactly as Ford intended. All original panels are straight with linear gaps, and the car is preserved completely free from rust or corrosion. Virtually no markings are visible and close scrutiny will reveal nothing more than minor scratches which certainly take nothing away from this stunning Fiesta. The unmolested appeal of this special vehicle is accentuated by standard trim sections, bumpers and wide body-side mouldings, correct and in immaculate order. Even the supplying dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted! A spotlessly clean engine bay and boot floor display factory stickers and plates to gratify the avid enthusiast. A truly impeccable example of Ford’s flagship luxury Fiesta.
INTERIOR
The interior of this remarkable example is in spotless original condition and exactly as Ford intended. The Olivia trim in Shadow Grey colour scheme (code LE) is beautifully clean and the common vulnerable areas for wear such as the seat bases and bolsters are undamaged. The material to the driver’s seat has become only slightly stretched. The colour-keyed velour carpet is truly immaculate and free from wear and the perforated neutral tone headlining is flawless. All switchgear is functional and intact, and the soft finish dashboard is perfect. The header mounted digital clock retains the correct green LCD display and the original Ford stereo radio/cassette (Model ESRT 32 PS) remains fitted. The hugely difficult to source trimmed parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct rubber hangers. This luxury Fiesta is the epitome of a cherished modern classic Ford!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1117cc OHV engine with single-venturi carburettor develops a spirited 50bhp at 5000rpm and 83Nm of torque at 2700rpm. In such a lightweight and nimble car, performance while not exhilarating is certainly fun, and the unmistakable exhaust note is delightful! The standard specification manual choke and electronic ignition are both present and correct, and operate perfectly. The four speed synchromesh gearbox is light and exact. A hugely nostalgic drive!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 13” X 5” steel wheels and special Ghia full wheel covers are in pristine order with no damage whatsoever. The 155/70 R13 tyres have masses of tread remaining. The dual line servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Main Dealer Skipper of Darlington and registered new on 10th May 1988, the vehicle remained in the care of Mrs Betty Taylor until March 2015 after her passing, whereupon it was passed to her daughter Anne. The incredible low mileage of just 22,787 miles covered in the ownership of just one keeper represents a provenance that cannot be recreated, and the condition of this beautiful example is a testament to Mrs Taylor’s love of the car.
The Ford service booklet contains supplying dealer stamped entries and Mrs Taylor’s recorded ownership details. The radio and user guides are also with the car. A service using genuine Ford fluids and filters has just been carried out. Guaranteed to draw much admiration at any classic car show and ready for fun and enjoyment, this example is wanting for nothing more than its next appreciating owner.
MOT June 2016, HPI Clear.
