Thanks for reading.
This will be advertised on here for a week and then will have to go on ebay and Pistonheads. Please don't make me resort to that, I want it to go to a nice owner.
I have only owned it for a few months but I have come to the conclusion that it is not suitable for me to use this every day and there are a few issues that need sorting that extend beyond my level of capability. So I have bought a boring (albeit incredibly comfortable) Volvo S80 for daily duty and cannot afford to keep this as well.
First thing to say is that there is practically no history / invoices with the car. The previous owner lost all of the paperwork. Unless stated all of the work below has no history to accompany it.
The car has MOT until February 2016. I do have the vehicle taxed but obviously this is no longer transferable.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The car originally started life as a 1.6 gti but it had a 1.9 conversion carried out in August 2014 by the previous owner ( a friend of a friend). The donor 1.9 lump has no history, all I know is what I was told, the engine has apparently done 90,000 miles. The cambelt was done at the time of the conversion, I took the cover off and the belt looks brand new.
Original gearbox as far as I'm aware, I have replaced the linkage rods with upgraded items from Pug1off.
New Bosch S4 Silver battery.
Used Bosch blue ignition amplifier sourced and fitted.
Used distributor sourced and fitted.
New dizzy cap and rotor arm fitted.
Used AFM sourced and fitted.
New K&N 57i induction kit fitted.
Used Valeo alternator sourced and fitted.
New Baker BM uprated oil breather kit sourced and fitted.
New OE oil breather canister sourced and fitted.
New HT leads fitted.
Timing all done.
Rocker cover gasket replaced with new item (yesterday).
STEERING, SUSPENSION AND BRAKING
Rear beam rebuilt with new bearings etc...
Front and rear suspension replaced with Spax Group N items.
Standard discs, pads and calipers, car stops as it should.
Shotblasted and powdercoated wheels, absolutely mint.
Stainless steel exhaust back section fitted. It is not my cup of tea and if I was keeping it it would be going but that's just me.
BODYWORK
The paintwork is not up to my standards. There are lots of dinks and dents and the paintwork has a lot of imperfections. From scratches to hazing to crazing, this is no show winner.
The worst area of bodywork is on the OSR of the car. I hit a pothole and the wheel fouled (damage pictured). This will need addressing.
The underside has been waxoiled and is solid. Rot free shells on these are becoming rare.
There are some small rust bubbles around the windscreen.
Having said all of that the car still cleans up quite well and looks presentable, she gets plenty of looks wherever she goes.
ELECTRICAL
This is by far the worst area of the car and is one of the main reasons for me selling it. Below is a list of everything that doesn't work:
Fuel gauge
Oil temp gauge
Electric windows
Sunroof
Rear heated screen
Fog lights
Windscreen washer jets
Central locking
Heater
If you are still reading this is what needs doing to make the car spot on:
ECU and injectors need replacing (running 1.6 items at the moment). I have a set of yellow injectors with report that have been ultrasonically cleaned by Injectortune. I also have an ECU. The car will also need the air/fuel mixture adjusted when these items are in.
Electrics need looking at (I don't know what is causing the above features not to work, my electrical knowledge is minimal).
The damage on the bodywork caused by the pothole needs rectifying.
The car comes with lots of spares including:
Rear brake shoes
Grooved front discs
Yellow injectors and ECU as mentioned above
Water pump
A further set of yellow injectors with rail
This car could be one of the best around with some care and attention. If I had the time, space and money I would get everything done and keep it as a second car. But I have none of that so it needs to go!
I have no idea what to ask for this. There is a lot going for the car and it is a tidy example ( I saw a lot of absolute dogs when I was searching in February). Having said that I am a realist and there are a lot of jobs to do.
