I will probably regret this but I have decided to potentially part ways with my Mitsubishi Pajero. I bought the truck in December last year and it was meant to be a cheap bit of winter fun however I have ended up spending a small fortune on it since then getting it back to it's former glory.
When I bought the truck it was generally in good shape but needed some work. It had no MOT and had been sat for 7 months. I took it straight for an MOT and it failed on rear shocks and a rear foglight missing. Being an import it has the electrically adjustable shocks and I wanted to keep this function so I forked out £260 on a new set of genuine Mitsubishi rear shocks and a new foglight. Delighted to say she passed after that.
I then decided to have a full service done as it was running a bit rough. Service included new balance belt and tensioner, new cambelt and tensioner, new waterpump, cooling system flush, new thermostat, new top radiator hose, new core plug (was leaking), new oil and filter, new fuel filter, new air filter, all grease nipples topped up, gearbox oil check, transfer box oil check and rear diff oil check. Whilst it was in the garage I paid a lot on top to have it blasted underneath, wire brushed, treated with rust inhibitor (there was only light surface rust anyway but I didn't want any comong back) and then fully undersealed. This was a two day process and is now fully protected underneath. Total cost for all of this, almost £1500.
I then replaced the steering idler, pitman arm and both inner and outer track rod arms then had the tracking done. I then purchased a full set of 5 15x8 modular steels with BF Goodrich 31/10.5/15 Mud Terrain tyres all round. These cost me almost £900 plus another £150 for steering parts and tracking! It drives great now and pulls suprisingly well for a 2.5.
I also fitted a boost guage to keep an eye on the turbo and I have only just fitted (last week) a brand new Pioneer double din stereo with bluetooth hands free and ipod and android connectivity.
The truck has covered 154k miles and it drives really well. The Mud Terrain tyres are great on or off road, no rumbling noises at speed that you get with some of the cheaper tyres. In addition to the work above I have also done a few other bits like replaced the side decals, new Mitsubishi grille badge, fitted an oil catch can under the bonnet to help the engine breath a little better, cleaned the engine bay and machine polished the whole truck with regular washes and polishes as well.
It's a second vehicle for me and is currently garaged. Only reason I am considering selling is purely for a change of vehicle (maybe something a bit sportier). It's a great truck with many years of life left in her yet. I currently have a private plate fitted which will be removed if a price is agreed and deposit left. Bad points - has a few marks on the corner of the bumpers and a few on the body (it is a 4x4) but overall its very clean and the front spot lights are a bit rusty but still work fine and don't leak. That's it really, all the hard work has been done, I have receipts for all of the work done. Truck was imported in 2004 and is MOT'd until December. Any questions please ask. I may consider a swap/PX for the right car.
Before anyone says yes I know it's not cheap for a Pajero but I am open to sensible offers and a hell of a lot of time and money has gone into making it into the truck it is now.
Please contact me on oh seven five two eight eight nine six one one four.
Kind Regards
Ben
