Model: Reliant Scimitar 1800Ti
Year: 1987
Mileage: 130k
MOT: None

Location: South Staffordshire
Price: £1350
Rare, galvanised chassis, plastic body panel & Japanese power.
I’ve owned this little Scimitar for nearly 3 years and had always wanted one of these rare and ridiculously quick little cars. There were only 300 of these ever made and only about 70 are currently left running, you’ll not see another on the road, kids will point and stare and it always seems to be a conversation starter wherever I go.
Performance wise this little gem will not disappoint and is a huge amount of fun. Reliant decided that the XR3 engined SS1 was underpowered and went looking for a suitable replacement and ended up with the CA18ET engine out for the Nissan Silvia S12, a very reliable and tunable little engine. Magazine test results of the time achieved as low as 6.7s for the 0-60 dash, and top speeds around the 125mph mark. It has become apparent that the 135bhp quoted by Reliant & Nissan for the engine was a little pessimistic due to the less restrictive exhaust system fitted by Reliant the engine seems to make about 10bhp more in totally standard form. Add this to a kerb weight of under a ton and you can see why this is a little flyer.
MOT expired in January 2015, with work and other projects I’ve not had the time to spend getting the car though another one and it’s the main reason I’ve now decided to sell up. It is currently insured and taxed so a quick local test drive is a possibility.
Good bits: The car has had loads of new parts fitted and is mechanically pretty good.
• New springs front & rear. Spax shocks fitted on the front, unknown fitted make of shock fitted on the rear.
• New track rod ends, ball joints and roll bar drop links
• Brakes rebuilt – New seals & pistons in the callipers and Pagid fast road brake pads with new fitting kit.
• K&N air filter
• Turbo rebuilt, Stainless Steel Turbo gaskets & Aerotight nuts. We also replaced the 2 steel water pipes with stainless pipe.
• Bailey Twin piston Dump valve correctly mounted on a welded outlet and old dump valve blanked off.
• Aluminum fuse box base from the RSSOC fitted
• Radiator in great condition
• Completely renewed all fuel pipes with R9 injection hose
• Engine service oil filter, Mobile 1 oil, NGK spark plugs, new timing belt.
• Hard top in good condition with working heated glass
• Soft top great condition, no nicks or tears and the windows are clear & unscratched
• Original Reliant Roll bar fitted.
• Carpets replaced with good condition 2nd hand ones.
• Mountney leather steering wheel
• Headlamp motors rebuilt with new bushes
• Wiper motor rebuilt with new bushes
• Bosch S4 Silver battery 2 years ago.
• Brand new Toyo Proxes T1R 195/50R15 fitted to OZ Racing wheels[/li]
Bad bits:
• The bodywork isn’t the greatest, but being plastic there’s no rust to contend with and most of the chips can be filled and rebuilt with epoxy quite easily.
• Seats – The original ones were damaged and the best 2nd hand ones I could get had damaged seat bases.
• Door cars – Not currently fitted, drivers side not great, passenger side is passable.
• Headlamp motors – while they have been rebuilt, one of them has stopped moving. Shouldn’t be much to sort it out as they were working, could just be an earth or one of the relays.
• Indicators – Stopped working, could just be an earth issue, but I’ve not had the time to trace the issue.
• Electric mirrors – They work on the bench, but when I removed the switch inside the car I forgot to mark the wires and as such they’re currently not connected.
Alot of the work has been detailed on my blog, but I've not been updating it this year.

This is what it looks like on the road and was taken 3 years ago, the car has changed a little, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.
I'll take some proper pictures and add them to this thread once I get home from work, but the following is the last picture I took of the car after it had it's new tyres fitted 6 months ago.
