	I need a new car but I'm struggling to decide on which one. There is a certain criteria it must fit. Must be eligible for classic or a nearly classic low mileage policy. Must have four doors and a 1.3 or less for fuel and tax purposes, ideally under £1k why? Well I only work 3/4 days a week and I have my son, my sisters twins and my brothers son for 2days a week and my mom had them 2 other days of the week but uses my car as she only has a scirocco. 3 are in car seats, the eldest is on a booster seat. I'm currently driving them round in my e28 but they're just too messy and i take them the farm and other muddy places and they have dirty hands and eat sandwiches and ice creams in the car and basically I don't want them in my e28 because there too messy and I'm sick of cleaning it out every week after them and I also don't want my mom driving my car ? so I just want a cheapish car that I can make look decent and cool but is practical for kids. So far I've only thought of a mk3 escort estate but they're a 1.4 (not that big of a deal) just wondering if anyone could suggest anything else? Thanks

	I will have a 93 Corsa 5 door with 12 months MOT coming up soon - 37k, one lady owner, serviced annually even if she only did 100 miles during the year. Exterior is cosmetically challenged! Dings where she's hit the gatepost and the plastic wheelarch trims need sticking back on. Interior is good. Engine is excellent. It's been garaged so it's not the usual rotbox. Might be a bit small for your numerous small children? It's a 1.4 C14SE multipoint engine, but in terms of tax isn't anything under 1.5 is the same amount anyway (pre 2000 reg)? It's never going to look cool but you ain't going to worry about what the kids do in it. Probably not what you're after but thought I'd mention it. It'll certainly be under £1k!

	In this scenario and also appreciating that a reliable car is needed as kids broken down at the side of an a road never goes well, I would suggest the skoda favorit estate 1.3 which fits all of the criteria. There is no other car I can think of that gives the interior size, small engine and retro factor all at once.

	Thanks for the offer of the corsa. I'd much rather slam my genitals in a door than drive one though ? thanks anyway I've had a look at the skoda. There erm, well not cool ? Think I'll get an escort estate and lower it slightly on steels Thanks anyway

	No worries - didn't think it would suit but it's going spare. As it happens I now find I'll soon have an Escort - not an estate - just needs a small bit of welding to n/s rear sill and the interior fan sorting, the rest of it looks pretty solid - not even the usual surface rust they're so prone to. Suspect the sill is a bit of battle damage he never got round to fixing. I ran them when they were new and never got on with them so it'll be a freebie for someone. 47k I think, need to check that, old chap who has given up driving. Usual case of nothing comes for ages then a load come all at once.
