I've decided to go very old Skool with my latest acquisition, however it does have some modern enhancements to it. It's a 1968 GT running a modified 1998 cc B series with Cosworth Pistons, hot cam, flowed head, alloy bell housing and sump plus a few other engine mods. Suspension wise it has a Frontline Developments 5 link rear end, updated grooved front brakes and gas shockers with negative camber and 15 inch wires! It's a lovely old thing to drive and here are a couple of obligatory photos! [/IMG]

Thanks Phil, here are few more, I have not taken many yet as I have just been enjoying and driving with the good weather and country roads! Underside Side Stable Mates S1 etype, a lovely piece of kit As it's been in storage for a while several fettling jobs are required securing securing window winders and bits of trim! The two 6v batteries if left for a couple of hours go dead so I need to investigate that and not wanting to stray from originality to much but need more substantial seat belts as they are woefull!

That MG looks lovely and it sounds like the 'modern bits' really help make this a street stormer!
I do love a B and yours looks like a corker...

Today had three main tasks to complete, Knob, Trumpets and Belts! First up was trumpets, when I got the car it had foam pipercross filters and the metal brace inside one had buckled and was pushed against the carb intake. I was given a set of trumpets when I bought the car so off with the old and on with the new... A quick test drive shows more induction roar and a smoother idle, not to mention the cosmetic improvement! Next up was me knob, the old one was a bit tatty and my mate does wood turning for a hobby and has made me a mahogany replacement, just waiting for the nut to set inside, so a shot of me manky knob below! Finally was the interior belt, the standard and purist loving device is as safe as Noel Edmunds' stunts so they had to be replaced, Old .... And the new Securon from MOSS being modelled by the wood turner... A massive improvement in safety and not too OTT! Following this exercise in quite frankly too warm weather I went for a good old spin around to blow the cobwebs off the old Girl. Finally a gratuitous shot of the alloy bell housing... Still lots of things to do on the Fettling list, but they may have to wait until winter! If anyone knows of a decent tyre shop that can work with wire wheels let me know as I have a slow puncture on the os rear, I'm based near Thame / Princes Risborough!

So, I'm in mid house move at the moment and the B is in its new Garage so first task was to sort out the Beer Fridge and the ability to have music! Once done the next task was to take the wheels off the back as they need new tubes due to going flat all the time, an MG Garage called 'Former Glory' has relocated a few villages down (http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/formerglory/homep.htm) and have pointed me in the right direction of where this can be done as opposed to me enduring the burden of kwik fit! It was a PITA to get the rears off due to how low the Car sits, but after a bit of huffing and puffing job done: Alloy finned rear drum: Part of the Five Link: Might have to do a bit of remedial cleaning: And another task is to soften the rear end slightly by adjusting the shockers, its a bit to harsh at the moment and the little 'knob' needs turning! Next Month will see the MOT and a few other things I need to get done: - Service - New Plugs - Magnecor Leads - Upgrade ignition system - not sure at the moment though - Carb balance - Huntdown missing interior trim I'm hoping to get up to Kop Hill Climb in Princess Risborough over the weekend if the weather is good and the Car is back on the ground.

Clucking Bell springs to mind.
I always approach MOT time with trepidation and fear, possibly like an expectant father! So I duly dropped off the gt yesterday, walked home and pondered the fate of my furtrack that has an MOT on Friday (I did say Furtrack as its biological in the back due to its main use of a dump vehicle!)
Well it failed. This is where you try to explain to the MOT guy yeah I knew it would..... OK not a major fail, just black gold (the term for wiper blades due to the exorbitant cost) and the wiper sweep pattern not clearing the screen, something I never realised due to not using the wipers on the thing!
I would usually fix this myself but I have the furtrack to sort today, cleaning of the old SLK before it goes on the bay of love, changing of the daily for a new daily and a work trip overseas so a local engineer will do the work and retest in my absence. I had an advisory due to the chrome sill covers so they will be removed over the winter to check for grot!
Happy Motoring campers!

Wipers only, well not clearing all of the screen to be precise, tbh never used the wipers so a schoolboy error on my part.
In other news the furtrack passed the MOT and the Shogun failed on a split gaiter.
Its been a busy day at Chiltern Towers getting the old SLK cleaned and ready for the bay of love! Its ba****d cold out their!

That's a nice looking 'B. I occasionally have sadistic thoughts of taking on a Triumph GT6, but have never got any further due to the prices rapidly spiralling upwards (and the cars within my budget being a little tired). Your 'B opens my eyes to other British marques a little more...

They are easy to modify and the support from people is massive, a few people from this very parish have different engine formats from the standard 1800, MX5, supercharged etc. I'd love a roadster to put my mark on but time, space and motivation would all be against me!
