I'm looking to get a boc gas bottle for tig welding with on the hobby offer they do.
but does any one know if its like getting a new butane gas bottle refill, where you go in with old empty one and they swap it with a new full one, you pays your money and go?
or do you need to take paper work with you and all that malarky?
thanks in advance

thats cool. I'm looking at the Y bottle on the hobby deal they do, where its £57 rental per year then £33 refill (+VAT) on a Y bottle which is 20litre pure argon.
thing i want to know is though, is it just a matter of - heres my old bottle and they give me a new one, or do they go checking over everything and ask questions of paper work, account stuff. i don't mind having an account i just want ease of swapping over, as ill be sending someone else to swap it for me but if theyll ask stuff they wont know, it wont make it any easier.
for instance with gas for the BBQ its just a matter of swapping for a full one and thats that.

Last time I swapped a bottle it was just a case of telling them the account holders name and address and they look it up before giving you the bottle, you don't (didn't) pay at the time they just charge the account holder. BEWARE the additional service fees though, they are about the same price as the bottle - and it doesn't matter that you are picking it up from them they still charge you for them. Oh and their oxy/ acetylene bottles often aren't full - you've got curse word all chance of them doing anything about it if you get one thats only got 2/3 - 3/4 of the gas you usually get in it - you must have leaky/ bad gauges or thats quite normal sir is their response....
As they have gone onto tagged bottles it may just be a case of them scanning the tag now.
To be honest we ditched them last year after having their gas for 40 years because of the above issues. Everything is now none rental.

Don't even go there in my opinion. Find a hobby supplier that will do you a 20l bottle on a deposit. You have to use a massive amount of gas to make boc economical
