I would think there are quite a few people on here that use GoPro, certainly going by the number of cars going up the hill at RRG.
There is a range of GoPro's ranging from £100 to £325, I only really want it to take video of driving on track days, sprints, hill-climbs etc and I've got a tripod mount built into my roll-bar. For playback on a laptop, YouTube etc. For higher quality I've got a DSLR that does video (5D3). Will the basic £100 GoPRO HERO be OK?
Looking for recommendations, hints, tips etc.
Thanks, Mark

From our bog standard go-pro. They do constantly upgrade them and make them work better but only marginally better in the usual car environment.

Also worth mentioning that the early ones don't have a preview screen so that can be annoying in some cases. Fine in most car stuff tho again.

I use a Drift camera , not only was it much cheaper but it has a screen , is rubberised and the big bonus is that the lens can be rotated so it can be mounted at all sorts of angles.. store.driftinnovation.com/uk/

www.youtube.com/channel/UCvrJLOKRqCvCHfJmFBPJA9gNot sure if its too late, but take a look at my youtube, I did a test on the modern car with a budget GoPro, the new HD Hero, I also used a Hero 3 and the results are almost identical. (Hero used in Cavalcade footage) I looked at quite a few the SJ4000, Xiaomi Yi and then the budget GoPro, in the end I used Flubit (google it) and found the GoPro on amazon for £94ish and Flubit got me a deal of just £84, so not much more than the SJ
