Heya folks, only me thought i'd come check this place out... trying to broaden my horizons from VW-only perving to an appreciation of all things containing brown velour. Daily driver is a 1991 Polo G40 - full blend charger, phat blinging 'zaust and not much else - and i've got a 1972 fastback tucked away with big plans, lots of primer and most of the heavy stuff thrown away.

Allright, Pillock! Hmm, Polo, Fasty: sounds a little like a certain Kent based freak who lurks round here! You don't have a KG too, by any chance? ;D I'd love on of them g40's but the insurance is waaay too scary even for a decrepit old gimp like me, so I keeps meself content by smoking about rwd stylee looking like the local drug pusher....(see picture left!) ;D

haha no i've never been to kent, i'm afraid i have an imposter! will get some decent photos tomorrow, was going to take some of the fasty today when i went over to spend all day working on it but the batteries were flat in the camera. good job, in 5 hours I only got a door screwed on the G40 is crazy nuts... insurance isn't too bad, i'm 25 and pay £500 a year fully comp, that's only a shade more than i was paying for a Golf Driver worth 1/5th of the G40's value and barely capable of the national speed limit! just run the full blend charger in, will hopefully be adding some more goodness to it soon in the shape of a chip and pulley, will stop modding when i get to 150bhp (the car weighs 760kg...) as for the fastback... it's got a fibreglass flipfront, no interior, porsche 356 carbs on an engine of unknown capacity (but could well be a 1641) and can waste a Subaru through the first two gears. top speed is unknown, if anyone here knows what "back round to 0" equates to on a VW 90mph speedo let me know". and i already drool over old stuff... thanks to a stash of Retro Cars magazines in the toilet!

I too have air and water cooled VWs - new thread started to show my new acquisition yeah i'm sort of semi selling mine... if the right offer came through i'd get rid as they do take a lot of keeping, lots of servicing and worrying about funny noises. not without reason - the last funny noise i had was an apex seal and the supercharger scroll meeting and lots of bits of metal ending up in the intercooler! but until then i've got the G-grin back, new exhaust has got rid of the nasty sound and i pished all over an XK8 up the A61 on Thursday

ooh a reply to my own post... how naughty here's the pics, just remembered the camera doesn't need batteries to upload The Polo as i bought it... well it's the same now but wears a Sebring twin tailpipe and the red stripe has fallen off. and no badges either for maximum "eh??" when i overtake beemers Polo now - added clear lenses and got it a bit dirtier. kept the G40 badge on the front as a warning Fastback as i bought it - already sports a flipfront and a coat of matt black. work in progress - eventually want it slut red (as my missus calls it) with black and red porker seats, and my american racing wheels on. this is what i have to contend with... look at that vinyl! although that's not as bad as the 1/2" of filler underneath it.

ey oop rainbowking... how's you? hmm am i just up the road? damn i always forget i put my location in... the fastback ain't here though, that's tucked away in a barn (it's like a barnfind every time i go and work on it, except less exciting). and cunningly even the polo isn't outside my house.... hahahaha you'll never find me! (unless free labour is on offer in which case pitch in!! )

aaah i see... yeah you're just up the road then! can't remember what i put in my profile for location... i'm near the chav capital of mansfield yeah i'm good rainking... well the motors are falling apart (i need two wheel bearings and the bestest brakes i can cram into 13" BBS's) but i've got me health so i can't complain ;D

bin the 13's chuck some 15" RA's on it..... and get some bigger brakes wheel bearings are overrated.... (I've got a Mk2 golf one at home if it's any use! haha!)
