I bought this mainly because it was local and tidy!
But will be loosing my 540i/6's storage facility, so it's going to have to live where the 518i currently resides.
It was on Ebay, it's a very tidy car the sills are Rock solid and it's covered less than 100k miles, the paint is still very bright and has a good shine unlike most white e34s of this age, the interior dark grey/black cloth and is very tidy, even the carpets are like new! Decent tyres all round and a decent spare in boot, there's pretty much a fully stamped service book too
I've only driven it a short distance off the trailer but everything feels really tight
I've had it running for around 45 mins and temp gauge stays in the middle etc, I don't know how good the engine is due to not having the chance to take it out on a long run, there was some signs of condensation around the oil cap and a bit of light smoke from the exhaust, the idle control valve needs replacing and it's running rich so I'm fairly sure that's the reason for the light smoke, it's been laid up since April too,
To get it back on the road I'm guessing it'll need the following
Break and fuel pipes (advised on last mot)
Possible exhaust middle box (surface corrosion advised on last mot)
New idle valve (previous owner blocked it with tape! And after removing car idles at 2k so I think it's sticking open)
As above there is symptoms that could suggest head gasket issues (condensation/smoke) but I'm fairly certain that's not the case as there's no signs of over hearing or pressurising etc, it's hard to say without driving for a fair distance to see how it behaves etc, but as always just been brutally honest!
It's a great shel for a bigger engine build the only rust I can see anywhere is on drivers side windscreen pilar and is only a surface scab, Prob where a it's had a screen change in the past, it's too good to break and if keep it if I could but unfortunately it's going to have to go, I've also got a set of m para reps that could be included with the car for extra
