Revell Gassers, Anglia, Thames, Malco Gasser and 57 Chevy's.

Update time.

This caught my eye on Evilbay



Interesting subject as it's a 33 Willy's chassis with a 67 Mustang body, loved the idea of the flip front, motor is a superb blown 427 SOHC Cammer with Funnycar style headers.

Would build into a very nice replica of George Montgomery's drag car but as usual i've done my own thing with it.

This is it so far.



Wasn't happy with the way the kit tyres sat in the rear arches, also googling images of the real car the arches seemed higher and rear tyres bigger than those in the kit so i used the tyres off the Chevelle kit on the Malco kit slot mags, then enlarged the rear arches to suit.



Also didn't like the blanked off grill (as on the real car) so i opened it out. Extended the steering column as the driver would have needed ape arms with the distance the steering wheel was from the seat.



Also swapped the front Halibrand ( ? ) wheels for a pair of Torque Thrusts.

Front end hinges forward nice, colour will be VW Orange



Got the 57 Chevy done, not an easy kit to build but i did enjoy the challenge.



Built as a sort of lowrider/hotrod/custom.



Trim is just done with silver paint, did look at bare metal foil (Youtube Vid) but really don't think i'd have the patience so just stuck with what i know.



Bonnet, boot and doors open and the wheels steer, car is a four speed manual, fitted a long floor shifter (out of a Revell Charger) which worked well with the stock bench seat.



Motor is the blown 283 small block supplied with the kit, just added carbs inplace of the injection set up and managed to get it to fit under the stock bonnet (just), had to move the rad forward to accommodate the blower drive, will sort out better boot and bonnet props.



Also made a start on this, mentioned earlier in the thread i'd like to do a Tri Chevy Gasser, it will be this 57, radiused the rear arches and shaved the trim off (added trim holes), paint will be as pictured, weathered/patina, primered doors and boot.



Two minds about running gear, bought a Willy's Gasser to rob the wheels, axles and Blown Chrysler motor but now thinking i may use the 62 Corvette Gasser instead, this has a nice blown 327 small block which would be better suited (though finding a Chrysler or Old's engined Chevy Gasser back in the 60's was not unusual) but the Corvette kit lacks decent headers.
