I have the esc mk2 escort rally car boxed un made. Are they worth much?? Pretty sure the kit has been unavailable for years, guessing maybe £25-30 ? The Thames van kit is nice, like the Anglia tricky to build properly though, regarding my comments about the scale, the scale is correct, found a pic of a Thames the other day and the doors are very narrow compared to the Anglia, never seen a real Thames in the metal but they must be tiny. Got on great with the Anglia yesterday will post up some pics later

Right, as mentioned here's the progress on the Anglia, recon i got on great with it yesterday. Got the motor fitted, it's a blown 440 Chrysler motor with scratch built rocker covers and the Old's sump, i made a new blower snout in stainless steel (a bit of an ariel) since it's on show, still need to touch up the drive belt and scratch build the plug leads, was going to use 15 amp fuse wire for this but will visit Maplin during the week to see if i can get something better, fitted the twin batteries and wired them with solder. Got the shell painted Ford Focus Electric Orange, about three thin coats with two coats of Lacquer, going to leave it a week before i wax it, will be doing the door hinges in chrome silver. Will be doing the air scoop on the carbs satin Black. Also weathered the slicks a bit more with a Scotchbrite pad, very pleased with how the paint has turned out Dash, door cards and seats will be White, the rest of the interior will be body colour. Had to beef up the steering linkage, was just too thin and didn't hold the wheels straight (were toe'd out too much) Got this Yellow film to use for the windows, should look pretty cool, was also going to do the boot lid matt/satin black and paint a mural on it, maybe "Rat Killer" (big block Chevy's being known as Rat motors) The gearbox is now a manual so i'll need to sort ot three pedals instead of just two, shouldn't be a problem though.

For those following this i got the Anglia pretty much finished last night, life got in the way over the last few weeks and enthusiasm was starting to flounder but had some spare time on Friday and last night so just kept at it, just a few bits to touch up and thinking about making a push bar/bumper for the rear. Used alloy tubing for the exhaust tips (header dumps ?), steering column and a bit of stainless tubing on the blower snout. Motor is a 440 Chrysler from the Revell 69 Charger kit blower is from the Revell 69 Firebird 2in1 kit, blower intake is scratch made, blower drive belt is a bit of rubber band painted matt black. Tried painting a "Rat Killer" mural on the boot lid but it was turning out absolute pish so i've just left it matt black, may put a few period race stickers on it instead. Have the Thames kit but as it's so similar to the Anglia i'll leave that for now, going to build one of these next. Then maybe a tri-Chevy gasser, probably a 57

Back into this since the weather has turned to curse word As mentioned last time i bought a 62 Corvette Gasser kit, this is very nice with a superb shell and a lovely set of Torque Thrust wheels, kit came supplied with a blown 327 small block but as usual i wanted to go my own direction with the model, also i had removed the inner wings and with this done the small block looked a bit lost in the engine bay. So i bought this. This Chevelle comes with a superb blown 454 Big Block , the Chevelle is a nice kit, built a stock one years ago, was tempted to build it but really did buy it just for parts so needs must. Using the motor and box in the Corvette and will be able to use the Centre line wheels on something else. The kit supplied 327 and the Chevelle 454, no comparison really. Big block mounted in the Corvette chassis, used an old set of headers with custom downpipes from an Anglia kit (stock kit came with long headers and side pipes), still to make a dizzy and plug leads for the motor and obviously needs the rad and plumbing. Mocked up with body and interior tub, first coat of paint on the shell. As mentioned i removed the inner wings, also removed the front valance as i don't plan to use the front grill/bumper, a Moon tank will be fitted in the opening, also radiused the rear arches to get the back sitting lower. Did'nt like the way the rear of the chassis hung below the rear valance so chopped the rear of the chassis off, also cut the spare wheel well out of the boot floor (for the same reason)and replaced with plastic card. Kit came with a simple roll hoop but i'm going to add a bar to this going to the passenger floor. Colour will be Rover Nightfire Red with a Ford Strato Silver hardtop.

Awesome build, I would love to build one of these (are they easy to get hold of?). I am currently building a AMT Semi, 1/24th scale, its an original 1974 kit so I am told by my dad who bought it whilst in america on holiday in teh 70's. He started the trailer when i was 3 years old but then put it in a box and left it alone, until last year when he gave it to me to finish. trailer is pretty much done, just need to detail it and add the decals.
Also the revell escort kit id worth a fair bit now. I sold my one last year, it was boxed and the engine had been built but i had misplaced the wheels and bonnet and somehow the a pillars were bent whilst in storage, sold on ebay for £45

Cheers man, i'm loving the Vette Gasser, having fun messing about with it and pretty sure it'll turn out ace . I've built a few trucks in my time, currently have an Italeri Volvo Globetrotter and a Scania 144, both needing re-done though as they were built a while ago and i could do much better now, built a flat bed trailer with steel pipe on it but that's laying in bits in the loft . £45 for the MK2 Escort, jeez, i have one complete and i think about three in bits Made a start on the Thames Panel Truck the other day (so now have two builds on the go), cut the bonnet sides out, sanded the roof smooth and radiused the rear arches. This will be built with the blown 327 small block out of the 62 Corvette kit, will need to cut a hole in the Thames bonnet for the blower air scoop, had to use the Olds sump (off the supplied motor in the Thames kit) on the small block Chevy but should work really well.

Loving these gasser kits. Think I need to get one and get the metalflake flying on them Go for it, they are great, i plan to eventually have my own little Gasser Circus Would love to be able to do Metalflake, would need to invest in an airbrush though, i've only ever used Halfords rattle cans (which are actually very controlable with good pressure and give a really nice finish) Got on great with the Thames Panel Truck over the weekend, got the axles done though had to scrap the front end and re do it with a straight tube and leaf springs, just couldn't get the hubs together, must have been lucky with the Anglia. Also bought a Revell 41 Willy's Gasser, looks like a really nice kit, superb blown Hemi and a lovely set of Slot Mag wheels, will probably built this one box stock though maybe a weathered grey primer look as a contrast to the shiney finish on the others. Will post up some pics during the week.

Here's the progress i've made on the Thames in the last week or so. Got the paint nearly done, decided to copy the green on the box art example as i think it really suits it, used Rover Tara Green Metalic, seats and door cards will be done British Racing Green. Got the axles together and the shell rolling, as mentioned had to scrap the kit front end and scratch build a tube front axle, this is just a bit of aluminium tube and a metal shaft, drilled out the centres of the Thames hubs to fit on the end of the tube and mounted the axle on a couple of shortened leaf springs, still to add a steering linkage and shockers but the hard work is done. As usual i weathered the rear tyres to make them more realistic, going to add all the kit supplied decals to this, should look ace. As mentioned bought this 41 Willy's kit, looks really nice, comes with a superb Blown Hemi (not the 426, 392 i think ?), lovely set of slot mag wheels too. May try a rat look with this one, no chrome, weathered paint, rust etc.

I've got an Anglia kit to finish, if I remember the tyres are two halves. Glued the two halfs together with superglue, once hardened sanded the tread with 80 grit sandpaper, took the shine off the sidewalls with a Scotchbrite pad. I've only found the two piece tyres in the Anglia kit, thankfully the others have one piece tyres.

Managed to get quite a bit done over the holidays despite that Christmas nonsense Got the paint finished on the Corvette, interior done and engine wired, just a few bits and bobs left to finish. Had quite a bit of hassle with the interior tub, mainly trying to get the seat to fit against the body, ended up raising the seat with plastic card. Hardtop looks good, still need to do the trim round the rear window. Also got the paint finished on the Thames, door is only sat in place for the pic so still a lot to do but it's getting there. The Gasser circus is growing Here's how the Willy's is looking, as mentioned decided to do a weathered ratty look with this, have messed about with primered panels and weathered paint before but never gone this far. Quite pleased with the results. To keep it consistent i'll need to weather everything, including the engine, will be stripping chrome parts, already stripped the wheels (thick bleach is ideal for this)

Update time , sorry some of the pics are out of focus, battery was on the way out on the camera Corvette done. May get areound to fitting the door handles but that's a job i hate. Got the Willy's motor built and weathered to match the rest of the build, skillfully managed to loose the blower drive belt down the drain when stripping the chrome off so that will need to be scratch built , may buy another kit for parts though. Drilled out the plug holes in the valve covers to make it easier to locate the plug wires when i fit these, header downpipes have still to be weathered. Got the Thames done, really pleased with this Latest build is this 57 Chevy. Found out this Roth tribute kit is a 2014 re-issue of the old 1973 kit with opening doors, boot, and hood, also steerable wheels, it has been re-issued many times over the years but i remember it as the old "Streetfighter" kit, got one of these for my Christmas around 1982, of course i made a mess of it back then, hopefully this time i'll do it some justice. Needless to say it's been made with the 70's tooling so quality isn't up to modern standards but it's ok, body needed quite a bit of work with mould lines and flash etc, all parts need fettling, adjustment and trial fitting. From what i remember the fit of the doors is terrible, i ended up gluing them shut on the old Streetfighter, may need to scratch build new hinges this time. Here it is so far, got the axles done, floor pan painted etc, recon it sits nice, colour will be Ford Jade Green with a dark green and grey interior. Motor will be a blown 283 small block (will fit under the hood with the motor lowered slightly and the carbs left open), going to fit the chrome side pipes off the Chevelle kit, car is a column change four speed manual but will be fitting a long floor shifter to work with the bench seat.

Sorry to butt in... What glue do you use? And can ordinary car paints be used on the shells? I was recommended Tamiya liquid glue and yes you can use normal car paints.
