EQUIPMENT
Wrap around bumpers, rubber faced over-riders, forward-hinged bonnet, self-parking wipers, twin electric windscreen washers, polished metal door pillar cappings, stainless steel sill tread plates, chrome door mirrors, tool-roll, four quartz-halogen headlamps, high impact laminated safety glass windscreen, toughened tinted safety glass windows, electrically operated side windows, padded sun visors, passenger vanity mirror, non-reflective veneer fascia with padded surround, electric clock, power assisted steering. Factory options; detachable hard top, automatic transmission, Phillips 860 stereo cassette. Optional accessories; BosScreen rear tonneau, roof canopy and turbulence screen.
EXTERIOR
The stunning elegant lines of the Michelotti styled Triumph Stag are unmistakable, with this example being finished in factory specified Tahiti Blue (code 146). The paintwork showcases a deep glossy shine and uniform finish to accentuate the handsome shape immensely. Minor paintwork imperfections and evidence of remedial cosmetic upkeep are traceable upon scrutiny but do not offend. The underside is structurally excellent with all panels completely free from corrosion. The bonnet has a few light dings. All exterior chrome brightwork is perfect and the original badge work and decals are intact. A spotlessly clean engine bay enables bonnet up showcasing. The factory optional hard top is in excellent order as is the tailored weather proof tonneau set, although the hard top interior lining is showing minor signs of age. A pristine quality replacement mohair hood in deep blue completes the all-weather package. A fantastic example of this gorgeous 2+2 Triumph Roadster.
INTERIOR
The interior of this luxury grand-tourer is a testament to the care and devotion bestowed upon the car throughout its lifetime. The hard wearing extra wide seats are finished in Tan perforated expanded vinyl (code 74) with matching door cards and trim sections. The upholstery is in exceptional order with no damage and is spotlessly clean. An expensive tailored replacement carpet set with embossed rubber triumph insets completes the wonderful trim. All interior functions and equipment operate faultlessly and the original walnut fascia with padded dash top is pristine. Even the period Phillips 860 stereo remains fitted! A beautifully crafted and machined Motolita steering wheel is the icing on the cake! Classic motoring in sheer style.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original Triumph V8 powerplant of 2997cc displacement with twin Stromberg 175 CD-2 carburettors produces 146bhp and achieves a top speed of 118mph whilst completing 0-60 in 9.3 seconds. The engine produces an intoxicating but unobtrusive deep burble through the twin stainless steel tailpipes and the strong power delivery is wonderfully smooth. The factory optional Borg-Warner three speed automatic transmission delivers reassuring and subtle changes throughout the range and offers kick down upon command.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted 14in light alloy flat hump safety ledge rims are shod in matching Camac NC80 185 R14 tyres with masses of tread remaining. The wheel rims are in perfect condition owing to professional refurbishment in correct polished aluminium with gloss black infills. The 270mm front discs brakes and 228mm self-adjusting rear drums benefit from direct-acting servo assistance and install ultimate confidence under all manner of driving.
HISTORY FILE
This remarkable example was first registered on 15th September 1976 by Rover Triumph Main Dealers H R Owen of Golders Green (part of the Heron Motor Group) to a Donald Herman Lossos Esquire, the first of just four former keepers. The history file for this pampered example is nothing short of incredible and hugely extensive. The original plastic wallet houses all handbooks, guides and dealership literature including an unused Heron Motors tax disc holder! The Triumph Passport to Service booklet is stamped with twenty entries dating from the PDI stamp to April 2000. A huge binder contains literally hundreds of receipts from the late 1980’s to present along with every MOT certificate from the same period allowing the mileage of 79,341 to be fully traced. All documents are fastidiously arranged in chronological order and leave absolutely no doubt the extraordinary care and devotion this example has enjoyed.
KGF Classic Cars are pleased to present this fantastic example ready for a new keeper to enjoy the car and the result of years of cherished ownership.
MOT June 2016, HPI Clear, Approved Used Car Certificate.
