I bought this on a whim last August and, though I would love to keep it, i need the dosh for other projects and it's just not getting enough use to justify its presence on the fleet.
It's a 1999 V reg Saab 9-3 Aero HOT convertible and carries its correct K code 205 BHP turbo engine matched to the incomparable GM/aisin-warner autobox. Being pre 2001 is actually an advantage since it is taxed on the older price schedule which makes it half the price of identical later models!
Its fully loaded with all the usual toys, heated electric leather seats, parking radar, CD stacker, ice cold climate, etc etc etc and everything works with the exception of the electric mirrors. The top is a bit lazy at the moment but its only been down once this year! it'is completely watertight however and I have no doubt it will recover with use. Mechanically excellent, starts, runs and drives faultlessly and obviously its RATHER quick. You do know you're in a ragtop and the motor is almost too much for the Cavalier underpinnings but that's part of the charm.
Mileage is 154k and there is a service history to 145k with all but the last 2 services done by the selling dealer, since i've had it, it's had 3 new tyres, new front discs and pads, a new battery and a replacement fuel pump.
What's wrong? There are a couple of scuffs on the rear bumper (despite the radar!) and one or two other small marks around the body consistent with age and mileage. A small tube in the engine breather is cracked, i've not tried to get one but I can't imagine it will be expensive, there is a small (non failable) crack in the osf top corner of the screen which won't get any bigger and the mirrors don't work as mentioned above. And thats about it!
I truly would like to keep it, I'm quite certain these cars are future classics and its great fun too! But I don't NEED it (so the missus says) so it's got to go!
PM me on here for more info or give me a bell on 07585 977030 if you're interested.
CAR IS NOW SORNED AND THE MOT HAS RUN OUT BUT I WILL PUT A FRESH 12 MONTH TEST ON FOR THE LUCKY BUYER!
Cheers, Steve
PS I'm also breaking a near identical 52 plate 150 horse manual convertible if anyone wants bits!
