Hi all,
Not sure if there will be much interest in this project on here, but for the last couple of years i have been slowly planning and building a 27ft wide by 60ft long polytunnel. Its been a pretty slow build to date as different things have gotten in the way and different aspects of the build have held it up. I'm at the point now where the frame is pretty much done, it was finished just before the winter and I'm ready to put the cover on once the nice weather comes.
If anyone is interested then i will update later with pictures and the full story to date.
Cheers

Hi all, Sorry i havent been able to update this thread yet with the full story, things have been flat out and i havent had time to sit down and write it all out and to upload the pictures. I will try my best to get it done soon. I spent yesterday building the outside raised bed in the front of the picture below. Its hard to get a scale of size from the picture but the bed is 22ft long to give you a rough idea. Cheers

Hi all, For about the last 2 years i have been building a polytunnel (probably the longest polytunnel build in history?!). Along the way certain aspects of the build (and life) have delayed the schedule but it is now petty close to being able to put the cover over the frame. I just have to finish up the base rails and do the last few bits to the door frames. At the moment i am waiting for the weather to change and for a nice high pressure to come and sit over west wales so i know i have a few nice non-windy days so i can think about getting it finished and getting the cover on. While waiting for the weather i decided it would be a good idea to get the raised beds built before having to work in the hot conditions so that is what i have been upto today, and over the weekend i built a couple of outside raised beds. I originally planned for the beds to be 27" high but while building the outside beds i realised that would be too high so decided that 18" would be more than enough, this meant that i have a fair bit of extra wood for building more outside beds. In total there will be 3 raised beds inside the polytunnel, each 4ft wide and 50ft long. Down the left hande wide of the tunnel i plan to have an aquaponics system fed from a 8000l fish pond situated behind the polytunnel. This will hopefully be built laer in the year or next year depending how funds and time go this year. I have already sunk the sump tank (1000l IBC) into the ground at the bottom of the tunnel along with 2 25mm return lines from the sump to where the fish pond will be situated, and there are 3 25mm pipes coming from where the fish pond will be to feed the aquaponic grow beds. Each of the raised beds has a 25mm pipe going to the top of it that will be split so each bed will have 2 50ft soaker hoses running down their length. While i had the mini digger in to put the pipe work under ground i also laid pipe work so there is a water feed at each end of the tunnel, along with electric and while i was at it i laid in around 500 - 600 feet of 25mm pipe in 5 seperate loops to be used for under floor heating that i plan to run off of a log burner (possibly a rocket stove) in the winter months. I'm sure there is alot more i have forgottne but I'm sure i can fill you all in as we go! Below are a few pics of how she is looking as of today. Comments and criticisms are always appreciated Cheers
