They did indeed, Melanie and Sophie. They were twins with their 60th birthday being in 2007 as well so were buried with it. Sophie ate Melanie on the 6th day and stayed alive by eating the tyres. Shes still in the boot now. They can hear her knocking but daren't open the boot yet in case she dies in the sunlight. James Dean down at the front there is the most excited, as he's been saving himself for her. I'm well excited too see what happens, got it in my faves ready for when it happens. ...man, I thought I was weird.... ;D

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

looks like someone's had a go at polishing up that front bumper and the chrome has survived...
lets see what it looks like cleaned up.
Apparently its not the rear suspension thats collapsed, its the rear chassis rails and floor. Internet rumour #20405.
I'm so gutted I missed this. Trip planned and everything. On ballance I'm more glad to be home with my daughter but I' still gutted to have missed this.
Anyone know who won it?
What do they plan to do with it?
I suspect best thing is to donate it to the city museum or something.

Whos going to want that? Ok theyve won a "new" car but its going to cost a fortune to see the road again.
They should have taken the interior out, vaccum packed it and filled the pit with waxoyl or something. Just need a wipe over with meths and off you go!

its quite amusing really, all that prep to preserve the car and they might as well have chucked it in a swamp! As already said, it would have been better in a barn At least the flag and the plates survived

all of which is called being wise after the event.
Its served its purpose. Its got everyone talking about Tulsa!
We've had a nice edia spectacle and its been a source of real excitement to some of us over the last few years.
Yeah, I wanna see more pics of the car and if they put it on display I will make sure to fly out and have a look at it some time soon, or at least maybe swing by Tulsa for a few days next time I'm in the US...
Shame it never came out mint, but I think that was asking a bit much.

But isn't this the whole point.... OK, so one in a barn would have survived better. But don't forget that one in a barn would have been unlikely to survive nuclear apocalypse, melt-down had the oil run out, flood, war, famine or pestilence.
There was just no way of knowing, back in '57.

buriedcar.com/photo_gallery_new.htmYou need to scroll past the time capsule pictures to get to the car shots. Looks pretty grim overall doesn't it, though it's interesting how well that chrome patch on the bumper has polished up. Wonder what the paint is like/how much of it there is left under the surface oxidisation
