EXTERIOR
A variant of the hugely popular Volvo 400 Series, this 460 example is the far rarer four door saloon version in high specification GLE guise. Finished in original Mist Brown Metallic (code 316) as an option, the car has a fantastic uniform shine and polished finish to the factory paint. The bumpers and trim sections are intact and free from damage. All glass is original and in excellent order, as are the lights and badges. A supplying dealer sticker remains in the rear screen. No rust or corrosion is evident on this exceptional well preserved low mileage example. Minor age related marks can be seen.A model that has largely disappeared on today’s roads, this delightful modern classic Volvo is highly useable and ready for enjoyment.
INTERIOR
The sumptious interior of this 460 is in good condition, commensurate with the incredibly low mileage covered. The ergonomically designed seats and matching door cards are upholstered in original Multicolour Beige Plush (code 3531) which is clean. A tiny hole to the rear bench is visible and the drivers base has minor wear . The carpets are clean as is the headlining which is fully intact. The dashboard and controls are in as new condition with all equipment and dials functioning perfectly, including the additional oil pressure gauge and voltmeter. Exceptionally comfortable and an incomparable example of Volvo build quality.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original 1721cc petrol engine with computer controlled multi-point fuel injection offers 102bhp at 5600rpm and 142Nm torque at 3900rpm. This impeccably maintained and low mileage example performs faultlessly and offers near silence at cruising. The five speed manual gearbox operates well and allows excellent progression up the range. Beautifully smooth and absolutely capable to compete with modern traffic.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard 14in steel wheels with original Volvo hubcaps remain on the vehicle. The hubcaps are intact and generally very good order, aside from some minor light scratches to the edges. The 175/65 R14 tyres have excellent tread remaining. The brakes feels assured and bring the car up to a straight and steady halt.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 15th November 1991 by Volvo Main Dealer Speeds of Derby, a new car order form made out to first keeper Mr Harry Farrar depicts a purchased price of £11,695 less £3,000 part exchange allowance for Mr Farrar’s Volvo 360GL! The original PDI check sheet is placed in the history file which also comprises of the plastic Volvo wallet housing all the handbooks, guides and dealership literature issued when new. The Volvo service record displays many stamps from the selling dealership and independent specialists as well as each annual service invoice from Speeds up to 2000. A documented cambelt change and many further invoices leave in no doubt the fastidious servicing this example has enjoyed with the very low mileage of 46,216 miles fully verified.
