So I've been gathering tools for a while and now I've done another order with mr snap on man I've got about £3-4k worth of tools sitting at my workshop uninsured, if it was to get broken into and my tools stolen that would be a bad thing. I'm too young to get traders insurance (19, which is bloody annoying for work) and already got my escort and rx7 covered by flux on a laid up policy.
Are there any company's out there that people have used and give a good rep?
Cheers

Have you thought of asking whoever insures the "bricks & mortar" of the workshop if they will also cover contents ?

The bricks and morter isn't insured, we went in there knowing it's falling down and are doing building work to fix it

try the usually trader insurers as most will do workshop or tool cover but your workshop may need to be in a good state or repair and have insurance approved locks fitted.

I had similar hassle a couple of years ago when I noticed in the small print of our domestic type policy, there was a very low cap on any payout on this sort of thing for outbuildings. Most of the well known names now cap as well as I found out on ringing around. I'm not a trader so that was not an option for that type of policy. I tried a few companies on just insuring the tools and equipment they were very particular about its location and the type of building it was all housed in. Eventually I stumbled onto NFU who upon fitment of some security devices and photographic proof of said equipment were happy to cover me albeit a slightly increased but not unreasonable increase of my house contents insurance premiums. So maybe worth giving them a call. And no you don't have to be a farmer to be with them contrary to popular opinion lol
