Triumph Acclaim, they're pretty unloved and boxy, good on fuel too from memory.

How about a little pick up like a skoda felicia, vw caddy, hyundai pony or something like that. That's what I'm getting for my kids, they're easy to work on, relatively cheap to buy, plus my kids won't end up with a car full of other kids egging them on to do something stupid (unlike when I was a kid!)

How about a little pick up like a skoda felicia, vw caddy, hyundai pony or something like that. That's what I'm getting for my kids, they're easy to work on, relatively cheap to buy, plus my kids won't end up with a car full of other kids egging them on to do something stupid (unlike when I was a kid!) Just be careful with this, commercial vehicles can be very expensive to insure for young drivers! |

That was my thoughts, he does like Caddys, if I could afford it I would just get him a camper as that's all he wants, well I would get an old transit and build it with him, but alas Insurance would be phone numbers |

You have all given me some ideas, so The 1974 Dodgem is up for sale soon to be followed by the trailer then with a tidy up I will have a car size space in the garage |

Great to drive, great to work on, got a bit of a following and knowledge base yet there are still some reasonable prices about compared to other VWs. Also availible in coupe or saloon, or fuel injected facelift versions.  |

Plus MK2 Polo Breadvans are just awesome! |

I've got a mk2 fiesta which is my first car, you can get them pretty cheap and I really enjoy mine even though it's a 1.1 so it's not fast. This is mine...  A friend of mine got an old 205 for £60 not long ago! Mk3 escort, mk1 golf or what about a skoda Estelle to be different? |

Micra k10 Peugeot 106 Citroen AX Metro I like the idea of a 106 Diesel, I did see one for sale but it was miles away My 106 was given to me for free, It was a '94 1.0 petrol and the insurance was cheap as anything. Fun to drive too, handles like a go-cart plenty of lift-off oversteer too! Didnt have it for long though, wish Id never got rid of it. this is the last thing I did in it |

or a vitara, they are dirty cheap now on ebay I have had both SJs and a Vitara in the past, insurance group is high and the 1.6 petrol has shocking MPG but they are an excellent often over looked 4x4 This went very well, 1.0 engine tuned Janspeed exhaust very quick of the mark but about 50 flat out  This was the best all rounder bog standard with a set of good tyres. Wish I hadn't sold it after 5 years of reliable ownership  After a few more mods 2" lift to allow slightly bigger wheels, hard top and roof rack  |
