I had a load of 'On Air' signs which were gifted to me by a local amdram society after a production They were just a black painted plywood box with the letters routed out and a piece of tissue paper glued on the back They had 40w bulbs in them I sold the lot, but advised everyone to fit a energy saver bulb, or low voltage unit Looked too much like a bonfire looking for somewhere to happen to me! 😳 Sounds ideal! Shame you sold them all. You can buy fashion ones, but I'd quite like a proper one, or at least something that has been used for the right purpose. I want something that lights up in the workshop to remind me the compressor in the other shed is switched on. I was going to make an "air on" sign or some such, the I twigged a nice "on air" sign would be great!

Some model railway track, a Pentax-K fit 2x adapter, and a spark plug spanner. The latter will be handy to sit permanently in the Sportshatch and reduce the need for me to keep putting a toolbox in it when I go out.

The "everything for free" man was back, but all I got was some music CDs that might be quite good, or might be awful. Who knew Focus had done nine albums? I can only think of one song. And I got a three-track model railway power controller for a tenner, which wasn't bad compared to new price which is about £110.

Last bootfair of the year sucked. One item worth £2.00 But…….. I have been looking for a horse riding spur for a few years on my USA travels and generally when out and about. Usually overpriced for me at around $20-30 a pair. Todays one was worth adding to my random pile of weirdness. Home by 08.20 from bootfair, hoping to see mate Kerry, disasterbus who was popping over to drop some random stuff off that he had collected over time for me. When I got here, the first thing I saw was a pile of stuff on the driveway, and no Kerry, somhe had been and run as he does not like to leave his animals at home alone. I totally get that. Still need to carry through and sort through all the treasures. I am sure we will meet again soon enough. So unpack and carry through treasure, sort through solid wood kitchen shelves etc mate Kevin dropped off yesterday (firewood and shelving) Then get back to Rezin Rockit for bushes part 2.

As seems to be the case, slim pickings at probably the last boot sale of the year. Bought a gowlland inspection mirror for £1, a pair of cut down circlip pliers for 20p (these will be ground down to be used as mini tucking forks for shrinking return flanges), and probably best of the bunch, a britool d79 1/4 breaker for £2.

To make up for the boot sale dissapoitment I bought an old 10" black and decker grinder set up as a polisher. Saves me messing around trying to convert my old belt driven grinder.

Not much for me today - another spark plug spanner, a pair of windscreen wiper blades and some books. It was a little sparse, I think the sale carries on until the end of October, weather permitting.

Looks like rain tomorrow so went to the Saturday afternoon boot sale. Haven't taken any pics bit got a few bits.
3 britool BA spanners 2 metric britool 1/2 sockets Williams brake spanner Aa tyre service kit. It's a depth gauge and pressure gauge. I was after another pressure gauge and this ones pcl. A 1/4 drive socket driver, screwdriver handle type. Interesting as it has another 1/4 female in the top so I can put a ratchet on the end. 2lb ball pein hammer, Whitehouse. A tray full of old tools, contents included 5 hammer heads, a load of old spanners (5 or 6 worth having, king dick, Gordon etc), some new drill bits with pilot ends, a rabone nice old rule, files, etc etc. And best of all, 2 new 11" abrafile blades! These are round files fitted into hacksaw frames and used under tension. They are great but haven't been made for quite some years and no-one has started making a replacement. Seems these are silly money on ebay now!
I think the whole lot cost maybe £9. £3 for the tray and 50p each mainly for all then other bits.

The abrafile blades and ball pein on top of the tray of stuff. Oh, I also got a 1940s cracker tin, for free. It was full of some guys old paperwork from the mid 1960s. Council worker time sheets, tax return stuff, paperwork from land compulsory purchase etc. Strangely, even looking at someone else's 60 year old tax stuff is enough to make my body physically stress! I hate tax returns!!!

I've got a new abrafile in a pack somewhere. Problem is, when I find the file, I can't find the frame I bought it to fit to, and when I find the frame I can't find the file.....🙄

Seems a 3 pack of 8 or 9 inch ones are £20 these days! I need to make some clips to fit these in a hacksaw frame. The clips are available but they also look simple to make. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more. I only bought these as they were cheap and looked interesting.

A tile saw blade ( tungsten carbide coated steel rod) available from most DIY will substitute for an arbrafile blade.

A tile saw blade ( tungsten carbide coated steel rod) available from most DIY will substitute for an arbrafile blade. I've only used them on tiles, but the world of model engineering don't agree about that. There are japanese blades that are pretty similar too but have large loop ends so need big holes to thread then through. Beauty of these is how thin they are and how small the locating pins are meaning fine work is possible. They will even work on tool steel apparently. Abrafiles are so expensive these days as no one is selling anything which quite fills their space, at least for the model engineers. For larger cut outs then I think there are a few modern alternatives available.

Today's treasures are autojumble, and I'm super happy! I've been after one of these vintahe pcl air hose reels for quite a while. There are some on ebay, but they are expensive and set up for water. Will need new hose but hopefully that won't be too hard. Also got 2 60s britool ratchets, 2 britool metric spanners and a war finish 9/32 britool socket. Not the size I've been looking for, but a spare for my britool 9/32 set anyway. Also picked up a nice unusual vice, but I've started a resto thread on this already
